Silent Hill. I think I may have played a demo of one of them. Can't remember which one though. Looked like a good game in any case. It reminds me of this other game I found "Fobidden Siren". Another horror game which no one has heard of.

Ohhh, and who here has heard of Tombi! or Tomba! That's one of the funniest games I've ever seen on the Playstation!

conflict freespace 1 & 2 are way underrated.
it sold poorly because of its difficulty (basicly people expect to be able to be... well... god in games, if you cant beat somthing the games poorly coded, in freespace 2 your one fighter in an entire fleet, you cant fight sqaut on your own, ergo; it sold poorly)

Silent Hill is NOT underrated. I think a lot of people know about it, IMO.

Beyond Good and Evil....my sis borrowed it from a family friend and it looks really good.

Never played Dark Cloud, but always wanted to get it.

How about Threads of Fate? That was fun.... :P

A lot of people have heard of it, but it really isn't as popular as one would think. It may not be one of the most underrated, but I still think it doesn't get as much credit as it should. Unfortunately the freakiness factor is heavily dropping in the series...

I've got some more:

Mario Bros. 2 - Ok, this one is laughable, but it really is overshadowed by the original and the third. It's still popular, but I think it's on par with the others. Many other people do not.

The Fantasic Adventures of Dizzy (NES) - A VERY difficult and rare game (I think). I've had it for at least 10 years, and never finished it. Then again, I haven't pulled it out for 3...

The Clock Tower Series (SNES, PSX, PS2, and possibly Comp.)- Another Survival Horror series that I think is way underrated. It's been out since the SNES times, but han't really gotten much attention until CT3 (though it's not the third) was released.

It's true that a lot of people know about it, but not many have played it, as Kugetsu said. It's not a revolutionary game anymore.

I'll really have to have a look at this beyond good and evil game. I've never played it but everyone says it's really good.

Super Mario games are awesome, even though they've become extremely cliqued (clisheyd, chiched, damn, I can't spell that word!) (sp?). I've played Super Mario 2, and it's not all bad, but I perfer number 3.

Very true. I've only heard of the third one. Never really seen the others. All horror games are just kind of er....not known much. The most is Silent Hill, and still it's I guess "overshadowed"(...)?

Does anyone know any really good SNES games that didn't really make it big but were very good nonetheless.

I'm trying to get a couple of SNES games, thats all (I like to play the classics sometimes. You can never get bored of 2D games :P)

I don't know whether it was recognised or not, but I heard that Chrono Trigger for SNES and Playstation (i think) was an excellent game. This game was out before I even owned a system, so I'm not sure if there was any buzz about it or not.

Chrono Trigger is more in the over-rated section (it's held in almost as high regard as Final Fantasy VII). As for SNES games... I can't really think of any off the top of my head. ^_^;

EDIT: 7th Saga was a decent RPG for the SNES, or at least I liked it. I should borrow that of of my friend again.

Legacy of Time, anyone? Gaaah, I love a good puzzle game. Don't find many these days. And especially none with sarcastic robotic sidekicks named Arthur.

I think the most underrated game of ALL time is Harvest Moon (Any) No doubt about it! If you play the game, you'll get hooked!!!

I could go on and on for hours talking about it, but I wont. Another underrated game is the Mario Bros RPGs I think. (Legend of the Seven Stars, Paper Mario... etc.) People often think of those games as childish.

Amazing Island's pretty good game, but I think it's too new to fall into the "underrated" catagory.

True. It's like The Sims, in that you wouldn't think the game would be very entertaining. I mean, it's a farm. Yet, it does well.

Ditto on that. Harvest moon is TEH BOMB!!!! I have he GC version of it and, although I hardly play it, it's really good.

I aggree that Eternal Darkness is an underrated game. It's fantastic, and it has some really grotesque bits in it (the body lying in a bath of blood and then disappearing, the headless, skinned grandfather etc.)

Another underrated game is Cel Damage. It's fantastic!!! I have it for gamecube but the first time I played it was on an X-Box. I HATE X-BOX! So the fact it got me playing an X-Box should be proof of how good it is. It's so good I named my neopets account (cel_damage18) after it!
