I believe that's Pong. =)

Actually, it wasn't. Pong was the first video game that had mass commercial appeal - but the first video game was actually created in 1958. Oddly enough, it was a lot like Pong...

If you want to get technical, "Spacewar" was the second, and Pong was the fourth - Pong was just the second commercially-released video game, and the first that sold any copies.

It's a fairly complex timeline, to be honest.

EDIT: And if you want to get REALLY in-depth, Pong was like the 19th.

At any rate, this is getting a bit too deep - chances are your teacher wants to hear the word "Pong."

Okay buddies I need some help with my algebra homework because I'm a dumb-butt. I hope you guys are quick because this is due tomorrow and I don't wanna get three problems wrong. XP

I need to write an equation in point-slope form [which I think is y - y1 = m(x - x1)] that fits the description given.

I just need to figure out how to solve it... the description for the first one is "contains the points (5, 8) and is parallel to y = 5x + 12". I know what to do with the slope (the five), but how do I find the y-incercept (12)?

Yarrrr. o_o

I think you just plug in the slope as m and the point (5,8) with the 5 being x1 and the 8 being y1 into the equation. o_O

If you need the y-intercept, just plug 0 into the equation as x and solve.

Ugh, bad visions of algebra class coming back...

Oooooh. Well doesn't that make me look stupid. I kept thinking I had to write it in y = mx + b form. o__o
Thanks ^^

Teehee-another algebra question.

If you have a system of three equations, is it possible to solve it properly by using determinants to solve for one variable, and then use that to make two of the three equations simpler two variable systems, then solve?

Example:

3x+4y-2z=5
7x-10y+3z=-4
2x+3y-5z=-8

Not exactly a picnic to do by augmented matrices or elimination, but evaluating four determinants is a pain. Is is legal to do:

Denominator=
Code:
3   4  -2
7 -10   3
2   3   -5

Numerator-X
Code:
5   4  -2
-4 -10  3
2   3  -5

Which should give x=1. After that, 1 is substituted back into any two equations and moved to the other side. Then, the two equations are solved.

It worked when I tried it, but does it always work?

Yes, it does. It is legal to substitute numeric values for variables once they are already known---this case is no exception.

ARRRRRRGGHHH!!! HELP!!! I have to write a script for two people by tuesday (18th January) and I have absolutely no idea what to do it about!! The teacher has said write about ANYTHING but I really prefer it if she would just give us an idea!
I'm working with a boy so I guess it has to have a girl and boy characters and we have to perform it in front of the class - so nothing too embarrassing or needing lots of props! Eek! I'm stuck :(
Anyone got an idea for me?? Please??

Do some comedy in a school theme. Add in a couple of jokes and fit in a real life school problem and BOOM, you have your script.

Thanks Ammer - I tried your idea, and its working ok now :D Just have to finish it tonight - shouldn't be too much of a problem! ;)

Alright people, let's get cracking.

I have this Science project due Wednesday 1/26. I have to design two submarines and build one. It has to be able to float barely on the surface of a very-close-to-filled aquarium-sized tank, then sink and touch the bottom, then float back up again. There can be a tube going down to it, but there cannot be a cable of any sort to pull it back up. Also, you cannot add or remove anything after it is in the water.

I'm 11. Most of you should've learned about bouyancy in Science.

Your first step should be learning about ballast tanks, and double hulls.

After that, it's just a matter of cutting up some soda bottles.

o-o;;

Scarily, I had to do what Zero did in my Algebra II class.
:o On January 4. xD
