I go to public school but I've always wanted to go to private school (well, called public schol in america, state school in Britain since public seems to be some kind of private school or something...)

Advantages
I'll get back to you...

Disadvantages
The majority of the school doesn't want to learn so many lessons are disrupted
My bus comes at 8am
My classes are mixed with fifth years (the year below me) and they are a bit immature. Some classes are also mixed levels because of a lack of teachers and it seems the lower levels are even more annoying than the others.
I have to wear a uniform consisting of black trousers, a white shirt, the school tie and a black or grey jumper. Anyone who doesn't wear it gets detention.

How does homeschooling work anyway? We don't have anything of the kind in Finland really.

Hmm. You know, that's a good question. Anyone care to answer it for me?

Anyway, I go to a fairly small Catholic school, a bit over 500 students for 5 years. Definetly better for learning then my old school, but then again, my old school was a rural American public school...

Uniform's definetly a downside, though I guess I can't blame it solely on the school. =P

Public School, I used to go to a private school but we were so far behind, my mom decided a public school would catch me up, and it did. :)

Private School

Advantages : More activities after school and more attention in class than in state schools (is that a good thing mind you ? :P) It's better than my old school at any rate.

Disadvantages : Uniform. Burn it.

I go to a public school. A typical public school in a typical New England "regional district." A typical public school that mascots itself the Spartans and not the Athenians because they value sports and athletics over just about every other extracurricular imagined. [We spend more money on the football field than the entirity of the afterschool clubs. Also, the football field is built on land, and the building is built on marsh. Psh..]

But really. Besides the lack of a badminton team, a decent orchestra, a marching band, an academic team, and uh..classrooms for the ninth graders who've just moved up there, we're really pretty well off. Most of the teachers are good teachers-the remaining are simply ones that I don't like. Nearly everyone graduates and moves on to college, and we've had a few that went to Yale and such. [Actually, my guidance counselor went to Yale. That saddens me.]

Public School

Advantages - Get out of house more often, more socializing (not necessarily only with friends). Umm... I don't know if there are any others beside that. Oh yeah, snack bar. XD

Disadvantages - The encounter of annoying people, the school food... ick, rather strict deadlines... and other stuff.

Public school.

Disadvantages - 8th grade is in the high school. In 1990 they had the usual grade setup of K-5, 6-8, and 9-12. But then they closed an elementary school, moved all 5th graders to the middle school, and because of the overcrowding they moved 8th to the high school the following year. They're switching it back next year though, thank god.
And like Kyra said earlier, you aren't on the same level as other students and you sit there and listen to the teacher explain why you don't fall off the side of the Earth -_-

Advantages: Um, probably the mix of people. In private and boarding schools you probably see kids whose parents can afford the money to send you to a private school or Catholic school. In public schools you can meet a variety of people.

And Squinchy, you live in New England? Where?

Public school.

Advantages: Interact with people, talk to friends, no uniforms 'cept in P.E. but it's not so bad, pretty boys (though I'm only interested in one and if any of you that know who you are post his name I'll kill you)

Disadvantages: Evil jerks that diss you and hate you and you have no choice but to just keep pullin' through. ._.

I'm in a public school. I was looking into boarding schools for high school, but they were a bit too expensive.
