Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

I used to smoke, but not like, chain and I wasn't addicted. I could smoke a pack and then not pick up another one for like, weeks. Now drinking, I do that a little bit more. Again, nothing major, but I do love my vodka. But I never underage drank...I was such a goodie goodie o.o

The reason I posted this was due to reading this:

This is quite interesting since most people nowadays recognise that smoking is bad for your health but think that drinking isn't very bad.

Never smoked, I don't intend to either. But drinking? Yes, I do, sometimes. I don't get wasted/hammered/trashed/drunk though.

Don't smoke, never will. Don't drink, never will because of my dad.

I'm passionately opposed to smoking. Lung cancer, brought on by decades of smoking, practically turned by uncle into a vegetable before finally claiming his life a few months ago. It was a simple Southern funeral, and after all kind words were said, I noticed a group of his relatives and friends step aside to share cigarettes and lighters -- no more than a few yards away from a man who was choked to death by tobacco. How sad that smokers will put aside all logic and reason to bow down to their next nicotine fix.
And even worse are the 18- and 19-year-olds at my workplace who smoke. It's almost like they don't enjoy it anymore; it's an obligation. "I HAVE to smoke RIGHT NOW." But it's their own faults for bowing down to peer pressure and trying it to begin with.
I also think it's terrible how teens put "getting wasted" above all else. It's not as destructive as smoking in the long run, but it's still a dangerous side effect of trying way too hard to rebel.

I've done both. I shared a clove cigarette with a friend a couple of times. I'm not a fan of smoking. The smell of regular cigarettes are disgusting. I drink once a while, if decent alcohol is available. I don't drink enough to get drunk, nor do I want to. I just drink because it tastes nice.

I don't smoke, but I do drink (I'm of age).

Don't smoke. *shudder* never tried it, never will.
Drinking? Well legal age here is 18 (I love Alberta), but I never drank underage except for a few sips of wine at Christmas (I had the impression it tasted like bugspray for the longest time).
And now? Up until this week I would have a few with my friends... but on Thursday my cardiologist said "don't drink anymore" and I said "OK". So. No more drinking. Ever.
But that... honestly doesn't bother me. So meh. *shrug*
And I like to think i'm too noble to smoke. The idea of hacking up my lungs just doesn't appeal to me. (Not to mention, it would be incredibly bad for my heart. Ugh.)

Hm. I've heard that a small glass of wine is supposed to be good for your heart. Oo;
Too young to drink, too smart to smoke. TT;

I am very much opposed to smoking.
And drinking, I am very opposed to it and I will never drink, because of my dad.

i've never drank or smoke, and i find both to be very harmful. alcohol is just a legal drug, and is just as dangerous as some illegal drugs. i hear about alcohol-related deaths all the time, but i've never heard of a marijuana related death (although i'm quite sure they exist).
i believe so strongly in this that i've started an organization at my college, called DATfree, which stands for Drug, Alcohol, or Tobacco free.
the article Qanda posted wrote:Yet despite evidence that alcohol causes as much harm as tobacco and high blood-pressure, public-policy decisions are governed all too often by political instead of health concerns, Room said.
an extremely telling statement. i think this is another reason not to drink: sticking it to The Man.

i say it in a kidding tone, but i'm quite serious.

Seeing as I have to face secondhand smoke so often while waiting for my dad to pick me up from school and I hold my breath all the time, I'm not planning to start anytime soon.
As for drinking, I've had a bit of wine before cause my parents told me to try- but I gotta say, it tastes horrible. I don't plan on drinking anytime soon either. :P

I never smoked. I hate smoking so much because it destroyed my friend. She would be constantly asking strangers for cigarettes, even just to take a smoke from one they were smoking at the time. She would pick up cigarette stubs in the street, light and smoke them just to get it all. She and her friend got into a huge fist fight about cigarettes, including her and her sister. She's horribly addicted and it really goes to show what cigarettes can do to you.
I don't drink because of my brother and my dad. My dad was pretty much an abusive alchoholc and my brother gets drunk constantly. It hurts to see my brother like that, even if he claims to enjoy it. I just know I wouldn't. He and his friends are always fighting about buying beer and drinks for each other. Pretty sad. So I stay far away from anything that could ever hurt my body.

I've never drank or smoke, i'm underage, but some of my firends do both most just drink though. I'm 14 btw.

No on both. Cigarettes are icky. I tried beer when I was five (non-alcoholic XP), and it tasted like puke, so no drinking.
