I love writing fanfiction- if I'm paticularly upset with something in a book, I write my own version of the book or part in the story I'm upset with. But I hate to read it... it's strange really- I even hate to read my own fanfiction. But writing it is just fun for me. Confusing? Yes. True? Also yes.

I tend to read fics from the SQ. As I usually only read HP fics, I don't bother with any other sites (the Pit (fanfiction.net, aka FFN) is an awful place- horrible, I tell you). I love that site. Absolutely Mary Sue free, and no badfic! My paradise, I swear. Though it's largely R/Hr and H/G. Another reason why I love it- those are my two main ships.

Whoa. SQ is the best Harry Potter fanfiction site I've seen. I don't think I'll ever return to fanfiction.net after reading those great stories.

Deleterius. A gift to Mary Sue bashers everywhere. *adds to favorites*

Deleterius provides me hours of amusement. I mostly read the Harry Potter sues. I love the over the top sues, like the ones that are part veela and unicorn, that every boy automatically falls in love with, the Sorting Hat can't sort, and have some sort of tragic past. Oh, I forgot, they can also use wandless magic and have special eyes that can change color depending on their mood.

Or the 'I'm best friends with the trio, and we do everything together' 'Sues. Especially the American-transfer!Sue. x_o

Oh, and then there are the ones with the reeeeaaaally long hair and fancy names. Do they even realise how high-maintenance long hair is? You can't not brush hip-length hair. Not even for one day only. It'll be a mess. ._. But that's saying that 'Sues are logical. Honestly, 'canon 'Sue' is an oxymoron.

American-transfer sues are usually pretty funny funny. Especially the ones with magical CD players. I think my favorites are the "OMG!! I'm so0o0o0 PUNK!!!1" Sues. Or maybe the ones where Hermione gets a makeover. They're so ridiculous. Honestly, how can they even think it's good writing?

I've never had extremely long hair, but I know people who have or had long hair and they're always complaining about it. It often looks slightly messy even when they do comb it. Though you're right, I think there must be some sort of unwritten rule that says Sues cannot make any sense at all.

I've seen a couple comments by you at Deleterius. One of those odd moments when I realized I recognized the username from PPT.

Oh yes. I have a keen nose for the good ones, actually. Harry Potter, that is. Good LotR fanfic is a lot harder to come by, but I recommend "An Act of Desperation". Eowyn's basic story. Very angsty. Establishes the Paths of the Dead much better than Tolkien did.

Is anyone else reading Shifts by Fernwithy? It's in progress right now, so it's not on the SQ right now, it's at humongousbighead.homestead.com and I really like it. Eo doesn't much, though, but anyway it's about, during the OotP school year, Remus has to protect Dudley (so the Death Eaters can't use him to get to Petunia) and he's doing so by working as a teacher at Smeltings. When he gets there he finds a mystery that needs to be unravelled. There's a bit of behind-the-scenes OotP storyline as well as a shipping subplot and it's just generally really, really good.

Ah yes, and JK Ashavah's Sirius-centric work that has barely aged at all since it was written. Best. Fanfic. Ever.

Do what you will; but I will hinder it if I may.

I read RENT and Harry Potter fanfiction sometimes, and write the same occasionally.

I have a horrible addiction to HP fanfiction (H/Hr forever -- Shut up, I can't hear you, LALALALALA!), and occasionally read other stuff that strikes me. I've written a couple just for fun.

I've tried to draw fanfictions before, but usually wind up with writers block. I'll get a few good ideas, but no way to link them together in a meaningfull way.

YES. I scavenge the anime section daily o.O

However, I hardly ever write, and if I do, I never finish it. Even regular stories of mine don't really end. They just weren't meant to, because I just wanted to keep on writing and writing and adding more, but that's become something of a habit >.< I start stories and just continue with eternal plots and never even bother to plan an end.

I read a lot of Harry Potter fanfiction because...well, because I'm suffering withdrawal waiting for HBP to come out :P

I've written one story, and I don't think I'll ever post it anywhere because it's crap.

I don't think much of fan-fiction. It may simply be that I am used to reading books and like the feel of paper in my hand. In my opinion, the chances of me finding a fan-fiction that is readable without the use and knowledge of chatspeak and common, frequent misspellings is about 1 in 10. A good one where the characters are developed, the content is interesting, the writer knows what he or she is talking about and makes for decent reading on a rainy day feels like it's 1 in 100. I would much, much rather have a good book that I can read over and over with the same enjoyment and without fear that the site is going to crash.

Fernwithy's Harry Potter stuff fills the bill, I think. (Her LotR stuff ain't that great, but her Star Wars stuff is excellent - it's just I'm much more into Harry Potter.) But yeah, hard copy is psychologically better.
