i really liked it, the plot was cool and the effects were amazing.

keanu reeves wasn't very good, but i dont like him in anything. i mean, it was neo fighting bad guys from hell.

i think the demons would have been more varied in appearance.

other than those two things, i loved this movie!

I love Keanu Reeves and his corny acting! <3 Rachel Weisz is also gorgeous. I love her too (especially in the Mummy Returns)
The movie was all right. I had to sit in the theater and think about things after it was over; I sat there for so long that my friends were checking to make sure I was okay. Cool special effects and all, but I didn't really like the ending with Gabriel. It really bothered me that an archangel would try to sell the world to the devil. Ugh. The first possession with the girl in the random building was really creepy as well. *shudder*

I can't say it was a great movie, but it was entertaining. Did anyone actually expect Keanu Reeves' acting to be good? If so, please slam your head into the nearest brick wall. :P

The movie itself was a conglomeration of past movies. That "windy" effect in hell was a real rip off of what Frodo saw when he donned the ring in LOTR, and hell looked a LOT like post-machine Earth from the Matrix. Heck, all of Keanu's outfits looked like they were from the Matrix.

What I have difficulty understanding is why Satan is a bald lounge singer in a white three piece suit and no shoes. And he wants to be called "Lou"?! He has a son? Does he pay child support payments on time, or does he shrug them off because he's Satan? And he can remove cancer? And to see hell all you need is a turkey basin, some water, and a housecat?

:o

As I've said before... I loved the way they made Hell appear... and how it appears to be just like Earth except it looks like a hundred nukes went off.

As for the devil... I really didn't like who they got to play him or the lines they gave him either.
But I don't see anything wrong with how they made him look. I'm sure the comic book has the devil looking the same way.
And in some books such as in the series Incarnations of Immortality by Piers Anthony.....the devil is pretty much an every day guy that can sing really well.. (I highly recommend those books!!)

I also read another book called Coldheart Canyon by Clive Barker... and the devil in it has a ton of kids with Lillith.
As it goes....these knights accidently 'killed' one of his children while it was in goatform.
And as their punishment.. Lillith creates a sorta eternal hell for them... and blah blah etc.

So yeah.. it's not unheard of for writers/artists/whoever to make the devil have kids or to look like an every day guy.

For some of those complaints, blame the comic. And the rest, I don't see why people can't be creative. Although I do prefer Evangelion's creativity with Judeo-Christian stories.

I haven't seen many barefooted, bald men in white three piece suits lately. O_o

You've all eventually got to except that Keanu Reeves's best film is Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and there shall be peace on Earth. *nods*

I went in with my best friend thinking that it was going to be a mojor Matrix Rip off! I didn't really think it was a matrix rip off.

And I'm sure other people who've seen it will agree. If anyone EVER asks me have I got a Light I'll run as fast as I can down the street though.

I thought it was actually a decent movie. Much better than I thought it was gonna be. But if You read the comics, Keanu is not the guy they should've picked for the role. But, with his deadpan acting, they couldn't've picked anyone better. :D

Oh, I almost want to see it because it sounds so tacky. I saw posters advertising it in Barcelona :D

I thought the movie was quite good, but then I'm not a high and mighty sooper dooper movie critic j/k

Just one thing. What is the line when John Constantine puts his arm tattoo things together and summons the archangel Gabriel??? Near then end of the film.

Edit: Nevermind. I found it - "Into the Light, I command you!"

well, minus the horns...
as for visions of hell, the book "dead sky, black sun" has pretty much covered what id consider the oasis of the damned to look like, its no Tuat i'll admit, but its pretty damn funky.

edit: although saying that, you probably wouldnt want to read the book, as while it has some very... descriptive writing on the immaterium (think hell, but. well. worse) it isnt really about it that much.
