Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair

Fri Mar 18, 2005 12:18 am

"Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair is definitely getting a wide release," he said, "actually, that'll probably be the first movie that Miramax, under their new company, will be releasing theatrically. It's the Japanese version, that's why I call it that, you know, it should probably come out in the next few months. It's going to be NC-17 in America. We couldn't do that when Disney owned the place but now Disney's the **** outta there we can do anything we want! It's gonna be off the hook!"

I've been waiting for this release forever! Finally! :peace:

NC-17? Do you know what type of material a movie with that rating will contain?

Fri Mar 18, 2005 12:36 am

Your point?

Fri Mar 18, 2005 9:14 pm

looks as if ill have to wait a year to see it, poor me.

O_____O;;

NC-17? *sobs* Kill Bill is without a doubt my favorite movie and my newfound obsession. Actually the first volume was supposed to get an NC-17 rating. But that was avoided to changing O'Ren's past to anime and putting certain scenes in black and white.

Geez, I can't believe this. I'm excited, but I'll have to wait untill it comes out on video to see it. *sighs* Still amazed though.

Just showed this to my brother and he seems pretty happy about it. (He's taunted me about the rating. Grrr, why must he be 18?!)

I'm sorry, I have no idea what this is about. They're making a third installment? So Kill Bill's like, a trilogy?

What is this one supposed to be about?

No Erin, they're not making a third installment, they're re-releasing the first two together in one volume, with a higher rating. I'd more likely refer to it as the director's cut. Seems to be what it is anyway.

My point is that a movie with such a high rating being widely released, is pretty phenomenal. Usually, NC-17 movies contain a lot of nudity (More than the average movie), am I right?

That's not always the case. In this case the film's been given the higher rating of NC-17 due to large amounts of graphic violence.

Oh come on. It's not that violent. I mean, sure it has the bloodiest anime I've ever seen. And Uma getting shot through the head. And people getting limbs chopped off. And heads chopped off. And getting scalped. And blasting the the chest with a shotgun. And climbing out of a grave. But apart from that it's not too violent.

Oh I didn't know that. I loved Kill Bill, and I do know some who complained about how it had to be split the way it was. I think though that this would have been better from the begining o_O.

the version we have seen to this point wasn't. but what it seems like to me is that they are releasing it with alot more violence. Im sure that three is alot of stuf that quentin left out to make the movie "R" as opposed to NC-17 the first time around, this is probably alot more gory

Don't worry, knowing Miramax and their fetish for Director's Cut releases, I'm sure Kill Bill will get a DVD release. And if the theatrical run isn't limited to America, I'm sure import sites will be abuzz with DVD news.

EDIT:

Being a proud owner of the Japanese collector's boxes, the only thing different from the American version Vol. 1 is that the House of Blue Leaves sequence is in color, and Sophie Fatale losing the rest of her limbs is shown. Vol. 2 is less cut up, the only thing different is an extended brothel scene. Also, since I don't have the attention span to sit through a movie I've seen dozens of times back-to-back, I'll wait for The Whole Bloody Affair's DVD release.

EDIT DEUS:
Rumors on many Tarantino fansites and forums are that the DVDs will see a release in late August/early September
