Okay, I'm sure that there are people here who have faced this issue before: school internet filters.
Now, before I get started, I don't want anyone thinking I'm on a journey to access dangerous or bad stuff on the net. I'm doing this for two reasons:
1. When we get 'free time' on the computers, there are NO interesting sites worth visiting that aren't blocked ("Humour", "Jokes" and "Fun" are amongst some of the filters' reasons for blocking certain sites)
2. Even for researching, image search is blocked on all major search engines, not to mention if I happen to be researching anything along the lines of games consoles, or games (hey, I had to once), then you can guess how much fun I have trying to find ways past this blasted filter.
3. It blocks Hotmail, Yahoo mail, Gmail, and virtually any mail service you can think of. Joy
Now, onto the details. The school is part of this SINA network. It provided students with their own web accounts, email, and webspace... and this filter. Now, these SINA buggers are smarter than the average filter service type people you meet (great description, thank you).
Now, I've found that if I type something in a foreign language, I can get into any type of website, no problems. It just won't let me translate the page (it says I'm tying to abuse a loophole). I've tried certain websites, like
megaproxy.com/freesurf
But my good friends at SINA are still too good, and know about this.
My school administrator has taken away any kind of computer privelages other than making Word Documents. Which means, I have no access to the Control Panel, I can't change most options on anything. Heck, I can't even right-click on the desktop!
What I'm asking is if anyone has some decent tips on getting past this filter, could they please post some help. Any ideas on what might work.
