I used one once with my sister. The 'spirit' said it was going to kill me. I asked it what its name was and it gave me my sister's name. So yeah I don't know what to make of it all. And yes I'm sure it wasn't a prank by my sister or anything like that.

Ouija boards are a relatively modern invention. Why would spirits have chosen that as a medium rather than a dictionary? Why haven't spirits started channeling through something more efficient like a microwave timer display?
*Edit* Come to think of it, the current Ouija board is vastly differant from the original. The original actual wrote words and drew pictures with its own pencil.

Because the people using the board are channeling the spirits and using the board as a medium to do so. There are other items to use, but the ouija board is very popular. Spirits do not automatically use the board. A channel or "pathway" needs to be opened and the spirits must be called. A board by itself is just a pretty board.
I'd also think a smooth board covered in numbers, letters, and special phrases (Yes, No, Goodbye are the most common) with a planchette to point and help get the message across would be immensely easier and faster to use to communicate with than a dictionary or microwave timer display. In my opinion, the ouija board is the more efficient tool.
Also, ouija boards are not only used to communicate with spirits. People also use them to speak with their "inner self". It can be a tool of meditation and self-discovery.

But on a microwave you could have two people touching it and the message would stream along on the display

An interesting thought since spirits are known to be able to affect electronic currents and such, but I still don't think it'd be easier.

The display on a microwave is made up of straight lines and a lot of letters and such are difficult to make, if they can be made at all, on a display like that.
Go ahead and use a microwave as your medium, if you choose.

To each their own.

I don't need a microwave. My dreams are already haunted enough.

u must LOVE neopets if your add topic is about them.
I've never heard that before. Mind if I start talking about it on my school's bulliten board?

Well, I do believe they work, but I don't believe in ghosts, only evil powers, which brings me to that it's so stupid to use them. Like playing with fire, bleh.

Yea, and while you're communicating you could be making yourself a nice bag of popcorn.
I've never used an Ouija Board before, but it's definately something I would like to try. Especially the day before the national lottery and with Jas' spirit.

Did anyone watch Derren Brown's experiment on Ouija boards? He proved them to be one big, psychological hoax.

Who is Derren Brown? Where did you watch that?

Darren Brown is an american 'magician'. He really does tricks of the eye and mind.

I've used them before and I can assure you, they are not always a hoax.

I am skeptic a lot when using one at a party or such. I tend to think the other person might be moving it. There were times with my little group of friends that I am positive it was not a hoax.

He's a magician who specialises in mind trickery. I can't remember exactly how he did it but he set up a ouija board for them and they were recieving messages off a woman who had died in a suicide pact so many years ago. They were shown a newspaper article on her death, spoke to her relative and saw photos of her. So this ouija board contacted her from beyond the dead. Only problem was, it was a huge hoax and she was still alive.
