I have heard of them. I'm quite partial to Wait For Sleep. Beautiful instrumentals.

The only downside to the band would be that the songs are a tad long (nevertheless you are getting value for money) and also in my opinion the singer has a certain Robbie Williams twang to his singing...

But still...

Although the singer is quite whiny, the instrumental pieces are marvellous. And although A Change Of Seasons has some of his singing, it's only for a few parts. If you're looking for a full instrumental song by them I would recommend Stream Of Conciousness or Overture 1928. Pull Me Under is another great song where the vocalist (ugh I still can't remember his name) doesn't sound too bad, the same with "Home".

The songs that I recommend the most by this band are: A Change Of Seasons, Pull Me Under, Home, Space Dye Vest, The Spirit Carries On (although it starts slow it has a great guitar solo by Petrucci), Under A Glass Moon, Stream Of Conciousness, and a few others.

:)

Urrrr ok, it's obvious that we have a different definition for the genre "Rock"

You'd probably concider Greenday to be punk, whereas I'd go with the old school meaning for bands like The Jam etc.

But let's not squabble about it.

I don't think Green Day is punk. And yes, we may have a different definition of rock but I believe your basing your decision on their song "My Immortal".

But as you said, let's not argue.

If you wish, I'd love to have this conversation over PM.

If you like Flogging Molly, I suggest getting their "Drunken Lullabies" album.
Also:

The Offspring- Smash
The Offspring- Americana
Alien Ant Farm- Anthology
Blink182- Enema of the State

Yeah, they're awesome. :) Their album's called "Funeral"- not because any of the tracks are named that or related to that, but because many of their relatives passed away in the months before the album's release. Random trivia, haha.

I don't know if you'll like any of these, but here are some albums I love:

Third Eye Blind - Third Eye Blind
Third Eye Blind - Blue
Third Eye Blind - Out of the Vein
Brand New - Your Favorite Weapon
Brand New - Deja Entendu
Bowling For Soup - A Hangover You Don't Deserve
Blue October - History For Sale
Weezer - Weezer (Blue Album)
Weezer - Pinkerton
Underoath - They're Only Chasing Safety
Poison The Well - You Come Before You
They Might Be Giants - Apollo 18
Liz Phair - Exile In Guyville

So, yeah, I guess check out some of those if you want. Some of them aren't exactly in the same vein as albums that others suggested. If you go to Amazon.com you can listen to 30-second samples of most songs.

*hails whoever said At The Drive-In*

The Arcade Fire always put on a nice show live, I've never actually heard the record, only seen them live. Haha.

That would be me :>

If you turn out to like At The Drive-In, try the offshoot bands which became to be Sparta and The Mars Volta.

Also having a night to sleep and think about it. I was completely oblivious to the fact that I missed recommending :

Incubus : Make Yourself

The other albums aren't too bad, S.C.I.E.N.C.E is good but just try them out first.

... little creepy that I'm listening to that right now... Part II's pretty good too, the acoustics and stuff.

I'm amazed no-one's said this:

Disturbed - The Sickness

GOLD STAR FOR YOU!

Anything by Third Eye Blind is bound to jog someone into a good mood. I recommend some of Metric, stars, Hawksley Workman, Julie Black and various other Canadian bands.

oh, and The Appleseed Cast too.

Incubus - Fungus Amongus
Incubus - A Crow Left of The Murder

The first one and the most recent one. The ones inbetween can serve as transitional ones, they've changed a lot. As in the first one is pretty heavy, and the last one is just good old rock.

Alkaline Trio's ok, too.

And, well, if you're interested, there is the considerable "Classic Punk Trio". You know, the Ramones, the Clash, Sex Pistols.

Other talented bands:

Weezer
3eB (Third Eye Blind)
Soundgarden
PearlJam
Led Zeppelin
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Radiohead
Pink Floyd
Smashing Pumpkins
Nirvana
Bright Eyes
Beck
Oasis
The Music

Since you like flogging molly, you may be interested in some other celtic punk/oi!

try dropkick murphys, blitz, flatfoot56(best celtic punk),

anything of those band's albums.

®ºº wrote:Nirvana : Nevermind (everyone's gotta own this)

Motorhead, AC/DC

Against me! is one of my favorite bands right now, you may like them.

(reinventing axl rose is the album to shoot for)

Kyra wrote: You might like Bad Religion's The Gray Race too. ^_^

Empire strikes first was a great record

bad religion has slowly gotten worse and worse, so shoot for an older record

other good pop-punk bands- pennywise, descendants, screeching weasel, queers, mr t experience (they were on lookout! records)

Speaking of lookout, you'd probably like an older green day album, and if you wanted to experiment with ska, operation ivy is my favorite ska/punk band.

there has been a lot of good stuff mentioned (the post above caught my eye) so you have a lot of choices.
