You kicked British butt.
Gee, you'd never see that coming.

I'm a bit annoyed at some of the posts in this thread. I do not know if this has been happening in other National holiday threads, but I'd appreciate it if it didn't happen in mine. If this is not your holiday and/or you choose not to celebrate or if you do not choose to say something nice, please keep it to yourself.
I am an American and proud of it. This a holiday to celebrate our country with our families. Do not put down my country's holiday because you do not celebrate it. Thank you.

only because we didnt want the place.
still, better colonies aside, you won and you deserve your independance.
Kudos to your nation, you beat the british empire, and thats a mean feat.
still gonna celebrate commonwealth day though, even if i am the only person left in England with pride for my nations Uber history.

Happy 4th of July to all my fellow Americans/those who celebrate.
My family and I relaxed for a bit and then went shopping to make use of those great sales.

Happy Independance Day from up here!
US Independance Day has more history than Canada's, and Canada Day's not so much about independance either, since Canada came into being something like:
Hey, can we be our own country?
- Sure, why not.
Thank you.
- You're welcome.
It's pretty cool that Canada Day and US Independance day are so close together, isn't it? Sometime we should have one big celebration.

Happy 4th of July, everyone who participates.
I had a great weekend. ^_^ I was in a Parade over in Virginia City, Nevada - I'm a Civil War Reenactor. Boy, that made my feet hurt. @_@ I had been marching all weekend (we didn't do too much of it, but I had to walk up the same hill twice, and another once, and then stairs like... three times, and then Virginia City is naturally hilly by itself... so... lotsa hills... the two days before, as well as announcing ourselves around the town and 'stomping' on wood and concrete stuff the two days before. And standing. Oh boy, lotsa standing.) And then right after the parade, we did a street battle. That was fun.
So yep. ^_^

Happy Fourth, y'all! *Let's the Texas accent shine through*
Anyone have eventful fireworks? I managed to see a fire, a guy jumping up and down on said fire, and a group of grown men running, scared, from the finale of fireworks they had just set off. It was VERY funny.

The holiday itself is a wonderful occasion.
...But I'm not for the people who choose to celebrate by letting off obnoxiously loud fireworks until past 3 AM, thusfore not allowing me to sleep.
There are lines you can cross on a holiday, and a lot of Americans I've met cross those lines. Infact, they jump over the lines. And set firecrackers on the lines. And blow them up. So forgive me for not getting excited. It's a great holiday, but I'm afraid I have a bit of a negative view on it because of all the people who celebrate stupidly.

Yes, yes we do.
And that's not always a good thing.

The fireworks wouldn't stop.
The whole evening last night was consumed by popping sounds and the shrieks and booms of fireworks. It was madness.

Sometime between midnight and 1 AM, I was in bed when I heard a bottle rocket screaming through the sky. I felt like opening my window and yelling at the stupid prats to give it a rest as it was the 5th already and I was trying to sleep.
