The big screen and the small screen... together at last! Hurrah!

I dunno, I think some Foo Fighters songs are decidedly 'meh' but the lads can make videos.

No, it's called music video for the music as well as the VIDEO. If the video like Jet has no point, than there really isn't a point of calling it the MTV Music VIDEO Awards. The song is popular, okay, but shouldn't the best video win? I think it's utter crap that a video should be thrown away because the song isn't good.
I like videos by artists because the videos are good, the songs aren't, but I like the videos.

a whole bunch of naff i see.
oh well, was never much chance that the bands i like were going to win anyway.
all can be summd up by "Indie", "Metal" or "ya know. actually good! with Talent and stuff!"
seems not much has turned up in the nominations from that list this year.
(though there are a few)

You know, that reminds me of what was going on in the U2 LJ community when the nominees were announced. We're glad to see U2 nominated five times. But really, Vertigo is not all that great a video, by U2 standards anyway.

It's just a pretty shoddy video all round, really.
Wed Jul 27, 2005 1:54 pm
But these videos are also about MUSIC. The Cheeky Girls could bring out a Steven Spielberg, spectacular, epic music video, but they still wouldn't win.
Anyway, "differences of opinion" aside, let's not turn this thread into yet another debate.

Bold = will win.
Italics = I want it to win.
Bold and italics = I want it to win, and I think it will.
No italics on a category = they all suck.

Don't want The Killers to win either.

I'm surprised to see Sarah McLachlan, of all people that don't seem to fit on MTV, nominated. But then again, World On Fire's a great video that does deserve to win...although I don't think it will.
(And yay for Coldplay. :P)

^ Agreed.
And WHY is Speed of Sound nominated?! It's a great song, but the video is HORRIBLE.

Sorry, Chass, but U2... I mean... How do I put this delicately...
I hate them with a burning passion unrivalled even by my hatred for math class?
