System Features
Not much is known about the Nintendo Revolution. Nintendo has made it clear that the system will launch in 2006 and that they will release more details near the end of 2005.

Nintendo Revolution games will use the standard DVD format
Backward compatible with GameCube games
WiFi
Super Smash Bros 3 launch title with 8 player support
Via download and emulation, Revolution will be able to play every Nintendo first party console game ever made - but NOT GBA or DS titles
Nintendo is currently convincing third party software developers to allow their older games to be available for download
Will play normal movie DVDs.
Nintendo will offer a FREE online matchmaking system.
Will utilize 12 cm optical discs, self-loading media drive
512 MB on-board flash memory.
Optional SD memory cards
Games will be cheaper to produce than PS3 & Xbox 360 titles

I still woder how the controlls will look like? o_O

Nintendo Revolution games will use the standard DVD format

and possibly that... blue... thing that PS3 is using. (what's it called?)

Will play normal movie DVDs.

with an "internal upgrade" whatever THAT is...

oh, and it doesn't have the hardware requirements to use a Game Boy Player.

and Sega has already stated that they want the classic Sonic games available to download.

Also, it's possible that, because of large investments by Nintendo into Gyration, a company which makes controllers with gyroscopes. also, it will possibly use haptic technology, allowing it to do such things as (!) change temperature.

old games might have updates: for instance, mario party may be playable online.

I am currently not sure how I feel about this. But since it's Nintendo, I'll buy it no matter what.

# Revolution controller looks like futuristic television remote.
# Glossy white design.
# Looks Apple iPod inspired.
# Controller is held in one hand. Attachments in the other.
# Attachments connect to the bottom of the controller. Iwata shows analog stick attachment.
# Thinking about packing Revolution with the main controller and attachment, Iwata says.
# Controller acts like a mouse in real-space 3D. Pefect for FPS games!
# Future attachments planned.

Seems like Miyamoto's been watching too much TV... looks like it would take some getting used to. Also with the mouse-like joystick, I can see they're wanting/expecting us to be ambidextrous :P

I give them credit though for taking the plunge of doing something different from the rest, hope it works out.

The controller looks interesting... but I can't really state my opinion until I've played SSB with it. But so far, it looks innovative, but not something I would use gaming.

Ugh, I love nintendo for doing some thing different and revolutionary.

But come on! They said in some article somewhere (dunno where it was, 1up maybe?) that nintendo said *they want something that doesn't look intimidating, and anyone can just pick up and play*.

Fine, fair enough logic, eveyrones seen a remote right.

Bleedin eck, its a terrible idea, A remote with a seperate joystick thingY? Sure its fun, its kinda like a gun for some games and a slashy sword for otheres, but this *revolutionary* controller is just taking it too far I think, its too big a step and one that will make nintendo do badly!

My personal opinino, does look fun though .

Here's a Video of the Controller being used by many walks of life, you can practice cooking, composing, baseball, drumming, fishing or even dentistry..

Nice to see the guy who designed the Virtual Boy is working again.

Virtual boy wasnt that bad.
okay, it gave blinding headaches, but hey, for 3-D gaming who cares.

as for the new controller, Viva la Revolution!

The new controller basically has shocked and scared the living daylights out of everyone XD

It better live up to its expectations.

I was scared to death about the controller. Then I saw it. I REALLY thought Nintendo had gone out of their minds. Then I thought about the possibilities. FPS games will be PERFECT. Golf and baseball games will rock. Strategy games will be cool.

Check out this article, http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651224p1.html

I'm officially PSYCHED now. I was scared but now I could not be any happier. GO NINTENDO!

Ha, I'm not touching that thing. Xbox 360 it is.

Sat Sep 17, 2005 4:25 am

I for one am not too impressed with Nintendo's controller design ._.

One really big problem: You need steady hands.

Actually, last I checked that guy was dead. Plus, he invented the Metroid series, and that wasn't a bad idea ta all.

I expected Nintendo to do a one-handed controller, but I was expecting something like the attachment to be a permenant part of it. Steady hands isn't much of a problem for me, so I think I'll have fun with this.
