I definitely like Loons and Cardinals, and I can't really choose between the two. My house has a bunch of pictures of Loons hanging on the walls, because my family goes to Canada every few years and we see them. We just went this past summer, and I could hear their calls from our cabin, and I loved it. The color of Cardinals are probably what make me like them so much - I love the bright red.

I like robins, because they're cute and round.

And also starlings, there's a flock of them living at the train station close to where I live. They tend to walk right up to you and beg for food, they'll sing and sometimes do a little dance (which looks really cute, they flap their wings and move their heads while singing). When you give them a bread crumb, they'll walk away with it with a satisfied look. :P

I can remember hearing the call of a Loon on several tv programmes and on a cd that I got that played thunderstorms and ambient music. I loved the sound and I was racking my brains for years trying to find out what bird it was from. I only found out what bird it was at the beginning of this month. A friend of the family has got a cuddly bird of a Common Loon and it makes real bird sounds. So I squeezed its chest and lo and behold, the sound of that bird started to play! Gosh, I was so happy that I found out what bird made that sound at last. So there you go. A nice little story there for you. I so wish we got them over here. I'd love to hear them call to each other. Apparently, they very occasionally breed on the far northern tip of Scotland but that place is quite harsh weather wise - I don't think I could stand the weather. And there's no guarantee I'd hear one anyway as they are VERY rare to breed. They winter here (England) but they're silent in winter so that's no good ;) And I have a picture of a Loon stuck on my board in my room. I drew it myself :)

Here's the picture of it on my computer. This one is an Arctic Loon and these are common (ish) in Scotland...otherwise known as a Black-Throated Diver: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v385/ ... dDiver.jpg

I so need to go to Scotland some day.

*looks up a picture of a Cardinal*

Wow! So red! They are an American species, am I correct? If so then that's not fair! *pouts* I'd really like to see one of those :) But America is just so far away...*sigh*
