Lab Ray Scientist

I'd previously been using the Scientist to change my lab pet's gender when the darn thing turned male. Usually, he'd change the gender in the first exchange of blows and my decently stat-ed pet (now around 61 HP) could walk away from the fight without suffering a loss, as the Scientist's single blow wasn't enough to fell her.

However, I fought him twice today with my freshly zapped Poogle, and both times he wasted me in the first round with over 100 HP worth of (dark/physical) damage! So I was wondering why this was the case? Did I just get really unlucky today and come up against his most powerful weapon twice in a row? Did my pet's Poogle status have anything to do with it? Was I just really lucky the first 4 or 5 times I fought him.

I won't seriously consider fighting him until my Lupe's stats are built up enough to handle him, but this is making me rethink using the Scientist to change genders. :oops:

You can also use a Cape of the Sun. Equip it to the pet you want to change from male to female, use it to attack, cancel the fight. It only works one way, not the other.

Any idea how to go from female to male? Maxwellian_86 isn't a very good girl-name.

The Scientist changes both genders into the opposite.

That, or the Lab Ray itself (might change other stats too), or a Strange Potion, which is insanely expensive.

Thanks! I went to IDb, found out where to get him, and got everyone's sexes sorted out.

The Lab Ray is what caused the confusion in the first place.

Sigh. How long does it take to get the Scientist as a challenger? Because I have refreshed approximately 1 trillion times now.

Anyway, it feels like that many.
