You have a point there, even if you hardly intended to make it. Wars are a test of the
pet, puzzles are a test of the
player. Many players like their pet tested, many players like to test themselves, and just as many, if not more, like both.
Just think, for a minute, if you were a battler, would you enjoy being left out of real battling for many plots in a row? Puzzle plots, while enjoyable, would make a battler feel similar to the way you would feel if war was the only plot option available. Now, neopets has become far more creative with plots and are capable of including the player more. But there is no reason why players should be forced to battle - how about some extra points available, yeah?
I'll back track to the rank war for a moment. Nobody on the lower ends enjoyed the ranks - why? After all that hard work in raising their pets, others who put little effort into their pets were getting more points than they were. The point is, rewards should happen for whatever effort you put into something. I hope TNT's learned that, actually - 'fairness' isn't generally considered communism.
I don't know where I'm going here, though. Heh. ^^; Just rambling. I'm saying the same thing over and over. More things should count towards the plot - yay!
...
I'll go now.
Three minutes to sidebar!

Anyways, why does everyone think a war is in the works? It seems if a war does start right then Neopets is get a little lazy. I mean if you seen were-creatures you wouldn't fight you would run then plot out what your going to do then fight. =P Last war plot I was ranked 3 when I should have been ranked more like 2.
Haha, nah, I'm sure lots of good battlers plan, but me? If they look too strong, I run - and if they look beatable, go in, whack away and find out.
(Note: I am too easily amused, perhaps?)
I think everyone agrees that the ranking was a bad idea, though.
