sorry to burst your bubbles, folks... but even as a die-hard-dedicated-simpsons-fan, i can say that its pretty much proven allready that the simpsons movie is going to suck. baaaaad. (like bart simpson once said... i didnt think it was possible, "but this show both sucks... "you simpsons fans know the rest... but he pretty much sums up the movie in that quote.

Ive loved the simpsons, and always hoped for the best even in it's roller coaster seasons... sometimes the seasons just plain stink out loud, sometimes they make hilarous comebacks. Now, they have nothing original to joke about in the movie...

i dont have time this second to find all the trailers and link you do them, but the jokes they use for the trailers even make it look like crap. One of them simply features homer saying "i forgot my line...." ... hasnt he used that line like 50 times on the tv show? Another shows him hitting a nail with a hammer, but then misses and the hammer goes in his eye, and then he falls through the roof. Its not funny, its completely unoriginal, and its going to be 99% animated comedy (as in the words arent funny, its simply how it looks when somebody gets hurt or the visual comedy)...

im not here just to bash the movie. I WISH they could make it good, but in responce to everybody excitd for this movie... i just want to say i would be excited too... but i wouldnt get too excited for this "conclusion to the simpsons series (since most shows go down in flames after making a theater-shown movie) ... . it looks like its going to be garbage. :(

It is NOT going to suck.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_simpsons_movie

Look at the writers for it. They wrote some of the BEST episodes, mostly from seasons 1-9 when it was really good. Notice that none of them are the writers who wrote the really craptastic episodes (Craptastic episodes - mostly during seasons 10-14, but there are still some now, during seasons 15-18).

Anyways, I'm looking forward to:
-The Simpsons Movie
-Shrek The Third
-The Nanny Diaries
-Evan Almighty
-Spiderman 3
-HP: OOTP
-Ratatouille (I <3 Pixar movies)

Writers Schmiters.... i still beg to differ

Now i shall prove my point:

Jokes in the Trailers Used before on the simpsons:

Trailer 1
Uh... The bunny's not breathing x 10
Homer being swung around on something then falling to the ground and then having the "something" collapse on top of him x 100

Trailer 2
Homer aiming at something saying "Steady.... steady...." and then misses resulting in his pain x1000

Something (like a hammer) repeatably hitting over and over in a constant motion as he says "ow ow ow ow" over and over " x 10,000 (where did i see that before... oh yeah, thats right, the FIRST trailer with a wrecking ball!)

Teaser Trailer (homer in superman shirt)
Homer sitting with the 100% blank face thats supposed to be funny x 100,000

(animation clip shown at comic con:)

You KNOW its a big scene when a mob of all the familiar characters in the show start marching toward the house of the main character threatening to kill them.....

.....again, theyve tried to make big scenes this way in the TV show.... about 50 times. It doesnt even have an impact anymore!
Krusty: Teeny! Take out the baby.

Maggie smashes her bottle, points it at Mr. Teeny as a weapon and they make karate gestures at each other.

Dear GOD.... how many times has maggie smashed something and gotten all tough? We got that in the 2nd seasons... shes a very intelligent baby that easily gets into fights... im pretty sure shes smashed her baby bottle and held up people with it on numerous occasions.

Homer:"Why does everything I whip leave me?"

(referring to the sled dogs he was racing with)
Theyve used this line before about 100 times.... this time, they used the words "whip" and "leave"..... but theyve used those words interchangably in a number of scenes in the past.
Marge: Homer, stop! I know it's easy for your mind to wander...

We see a monkey inside Homer's brain playing cymbals and dancing.

ohh my LORD this is used to many times..... like when they were in the kitchen, only this time, it wasnt a monkey with cymbals, it was an ostrich bobbing its head, a cow playing a fiddle, and a turtle batting at its shell.

oh yeah, and this time too:
Image

CAN YOU SAY OVER USED??!??!?!?

They pretty much sum it up in the 2nd trailer by using the only jokes theyve NEVER used before... one liners.... he throws things like lamp and says "lights out!", then throws a camera and says "say cheese"....

... you are correct. I see the comedy in those phrases. Great writers!

EDIT: just do add, my apologies if anybody saw a disturbing image earlier on this thread. Apparently, the hotlinked image displayed something pretty vulgar, to punish me for "hotlinking" their image.... ive replaced it now with something hosted from my own photobucket account. My deepest aplogies to anybody who saw that image posted there before!

Apparently you are not 'die-hard-dedicated' enough because many more 'die-hard-dedicated' or more fans will go to the movie no matter what it may look like in trailers and the like. As Jeff Albertson would say on their behalf: 'I will only see it three more times. Today.'

And gee. Looking for originality in pop culture these days. Yeah. Good luck. That has been on the decline since the 60s. I have even seen many a statement from the Simpsons' producers where they are complaining that they have had nothing new to make fun of, parody, satire, or anything of the like for years. They know they have nothing new to offer. At least they are trying. You want them to do an 'original' show, make it yourself! If they produce it, then we finally get some 'original' material. If not, then at least you tried something other than complaining about it. You think they owe you something new because you have been such a loyal fan? To quote Bart again: 'They have given you hours of free entertainment. If anything, you owe them!'

You seriously cannot do any sort of story these days without there being some sort of precedent for even a small part of the tale. If that means reusing the same jokes, same lines, same gags, same plots, then what must be done must be done. The Simpsons are just copies of the Flintstones anyway so it isn't like the the show itself was original since Tracy Ullman aired them so many years ago.

High School Musical 2
Harry Potter 5
And some others.

Ive hated the Simpsons since I was old enough to realize that the jokes are over-used and identical from season-to-season.
About a decade ago.

I'll go watch Transformers again instead methinks.

well, ive never hated the simpsons.... and i AM a die-hard-simpsons-fan.... im just dissapointed that the movie is going to stink, and i proved my point pretty well i presume. I dont hate the simpsons, im just overly dissapointed that one of my favorite shows for the past 15 years is going to crash and burn soon.... starting with the movie. :(

At a certain point those reused jokes become running gags, and they're funny again. Some of them already have.

I expect that it's either going to be so bad it's good or it'll be genuinely good. I'm not going to worry about it.

On topic, I completely forgot about Stardust. I want to see it because I lurved the book. :)

I'd have to say I'm looking forward to

Pirates of The Carribean 3
Shrek 3

Other Movies that intrest me

Ratatouille (Yet another Disney Pixar Movie)
Toy Story 3 (Yet another Disney Pixar Movie)

I do wish Conan O'Brien were part of the Simpsons movie. The way I see it, the show's best season was the fourth, which was when he joined them, and my favorite episodes of the season were his.

Nobody will know whom you're talking about unless you call him what everyone else calls him. I bet even his mother calls him Comic Book Guy.

And WOW, 300 looks AMAZING with that new trailer. Definately definately going to see it premiere night!

A SEQUEL?

That movie is so annoying words cannot describe how annoying it is.

Just to add my two cents on the Simpsons Movie, while I think I will like it, I'm betting alot of people won't, as for the reused jokes becoming funny again, I call it the Bob Rake Theory, since that is what really started it.

Anyway, great lists guys and keep them coming.

I have some more to add to my own list.

1. Spiderman 3- since bothe the black suit and Eddie Brock are there that means Venom will atleast be introduced.

2. Night at the Museum- I'm not sure why I want to see it I just do.

By the way the I mentioned about wanting to see Ghost Rider when it comes out in the first post, there are actually two things I am worrying about with it,

1. that the release date might be pushed back again, since it was originally suposed to come out in 2004.

and 2. It is being directed by the same guy who did Daredevil and The Punisher, I'm hoping that because Stan Lee is acting as consultant on this one it will be more of the Spiderman and X-Men level of movie.

ack.. I wasn't aware they were coming out with movie versions of Stardust and Coraline.. I must be out of it or something.. eh..
Those two would be good to see; I liked to stories.. Coraline was kinda creepy.

Pirates of the Caribbean 3 would be nice to see.
Harry Potter

umm I can't think of any others at the moment.
