I am a ridiculously heavy sleeper (on the rare occasions that I actually do sleep). I slept through a fire alarm once. Thankfully it was just a drill. :P

The getting to sleep part is hard for me but waking up is easy. As soon as I'm up, I'm up. I bolt out of bed and I'm instantly completely awake. Problem with that is if something wakes me up I can't get back to sleep. >.<

I'm like that too, except I'm an extremely light sleeper, and everything wakes me up, even my dog barking clear in the other room while I have the radio blaring and the loud space heater on. EVERY noise wakes me up.

Even the radio switching to "talk shows" in the morning wakes me up, as soon as it's no longer music. >_<

I'm a really heavy sleeper. I slept through an earthquake once. Granted, it was a tiny earthquake because we don't get earthquakes where we live, but I still slept through it :P
I really am a heavy sleeper though. It takes me ages to fall asleep and then ages to wake up. Probably the only thing that can quickly snap me into awakeness(aside from the oh shoot I overslept and am going to be late for school feeling) is the threat of being tickled.

i cant be bothered to read through everyone elses responses right now,but i will later. but anyway. last year when i was doing my revision and dissertation i realised that i was getting up later on the days that i did set and alarm. so i stopped setting an alarm. i made sure i went to bed at a reasonable time every night, and tried to go to bed at the same timne, and rather than rolling over and going back to sleep i would actually get up when i woke up - and it worked. for 2 months straight i didnt set an alarm and i was in the library by 9:20 at the latest every day - the first day i set an alarm was on the day of my first exam, just in case!

obviously thats not always an option - as if i'd slept in by accident the worst that would have happened was i would have been into the library later and wouldnt have had a computer. if you have work/class etc to go to, its not such an option.

Have something to do when you wake up: i. e., find something on TV that you enjoy that comes on thirty minutes before you must be up, or get up in time to see the sun come up, or some other thing you enjoy that only happens in the morning.

I always sleep with my phone under my pillow...having the alarm set to vibrate does wonders for getting you up (though it does make me jump about a foot when I'm in a deep sleep). I usually have my mum come in and shout at me 5 minutes after, and that's when I actually get up. When that's not an option, I set 4 alarms on my phone. I usually get fed up by the 3rd and get up anyway, but the 4th'll still be early enough that I'll be on time. =P

So I tried the putting some food by my bed to eat in the morning, and it didn't really work. The first time I just forgot about it, and the second it didn't really help me wake up. I think drinking something would work better, but I didn't actually get to try it out since this morning I was already mostly awake. Putting on music in the morning helps A LOT.

I set my alarm to the AM station, so it's just static, and then I set it really really loud. So when I wake up I usually jump and I have to turn it off quick or I'll wake up the whole house.
So many times I'm laying in my bed and I think to myself, "Okay, I'm going to get up now. I need to. At the count of three.. One, two.." But I'm like whatever and I cuddle up and go back to sleep.
Which prompts my mom to be way way mad when she has to drive me.
If I wake up past 6:00 am, I usually have to be driven.
