Reminds me of the story in the early 1970's about the woman who gave her poodle a bath and stupidly put it in the microwave to dry it off (this is back when microwaves first came out). The woman freaked out and had a heart attack after seeing what she had done to her little doggy. And I know that popular urban legend sites say that it isn't true, but I was around back then. I remember reading about it in the newspaper.

instead you should just get a bowl of water, with some lemon juice in it, and microwave it for a few minutes until its hot and steams up the microwave, then you can wipe down the microwave. it makes it smell nice, and you *know* it doesnt have anything harmful in it
