Hola. Since a lot of my meals are based on vegetables, I gotta ask.. does anyone have any kewl veggies to try? I like to try new things in hopes of finding good staples to have around, so is there any vegetables out of the ordinary broccoli and peas that you guys think I should try?

Just don't suggest mushrooms.. I am morbidly afraid of them.

Cauliflower is my favorite! Sorry, somebody's got to rep for the c-flower around this place.

Oh, and snap peas are amazing. Dip them in ranch dressing. <3

Hearts of palm are pretty good. You can get them in a can. They kind of taste like a pickle but have a different texture.

Oooh, seconded. They taste kind of weird, yeah (I don't really see the resemblance to pickle, though oO), but if you put a little salt and balsemic vinegar on them... <3

can't find the sig from this set, so instead, you get a <3 .

Veggies that I think are delicious: broccoli, cauliflower, squash (all kinds), beans (all kinds), peppers (all kinds), spinach, artichokes, cucumbers, zucchini, celery, carrots, asparagus, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts.

Broccoli and cauliflower are great with melted cheese. Cucumbers are good marinated in dressings, like Italian. Zucchini bread is awesome.

Wow, I like a lot of vegetables! <3

When I was a kid I hated beets, but now I like them. But just cold and sliced red pickled beets. I don't know how they'd taste any other way, I haven't had them any other way.

I like turnip greens, which taste better than they look, I think. If you have the prepared the wrong way, then they will be bitter and tough and gritty. You have to really wash turnip greens, at least three times. When you think you have all the sand off, wash them again. It won't hurt. Then you need to put a little sugar in the water when you cook them to get the bitterness off. And it won't hurt to put in some kind of pork for flavoring. Some people like to put hot sauce on their greens or splash in a little of this clear liquid from a jar of hot peppers. I don't like mine like that. If you are making greens you might as well make some sweet potatos and corn bread, as they just all go so well together I think.

I love fired green tomatos. If you make them, make them with corn meal to coat them. That is the real way. It isn't the same when you dredge them in flour. It just isn't the same.
If you make them, get ready for a mess. The end product is a nice fried green tomato. It has a nice sour bite to it. If you like sour and salty you will like this probably. If you don't want them as sour, get the ones that are a bit pinker, they are still good. Fried red tomatos are good, but not the same. I actually like them without any coating, just fried. If you get fresh tomatos they are wonderful. If you get store bought red tomatos and fry them, they taste watery and not like much.

Pickled okra: I love these! Kind of a weird taste, but they are found on most salad bars in the south.

Pickled baby corn: Yummy. Tastes like pickled corn.

Green tomato relish: It tastes pretty good with fish. I don't care for it just to eat it. I've had it a few times with fish though.

Celery is pretty good with anything. I bet it would be great with wasabi/horseradish. It has been a while since I had some wasabi peas. Some walmarts carry them. I can't seem to find them just any place. Mmm, they are so good if you like wasabi and crunchy stuff. They definately have a pea flavor, but they are crunch so they are great. You could try some wasabi almonds or crackers. I've had both, very good.

Can I just give a blanket "seconded" to everything said above?

Let's see...I'm starting some eggplant from seed this weekend--I don't think there's anything better than snacking on fried eggplant once it's grown.

Spaghetti squash is great for a change of pace. It's veggielicious, but it's pasta-like! I like it better than wheat pasta, actually.

Sweet potatoes are awesome, especially in soups. Sweet potato chowder with a little bit of chipotle pepper is <3

Kale is awesome, especially when prepared like on this site. It's surprisingly delicious.

NEVER become a vegetarian then.
It's mushroom this and cheese that for everything.

And Cucumber's rock.
I used to consume it by the box full, that and Celery, but I found after about a dozen stalks Celery begins to burn.

Oh and btw, I love Kale. :DD I'll definatly try that recipe you posted Pudding. :3 (hopefully I can find the sesame oil..)
