Have you ever donated blood?

#1 Post by Ski »

So, yeah, the topic says it all. Today I gave blood for the first time! It was neat and left me feeling a bit weird for a bit, but it was satisfying.

I haven't, mainly because I can't. My iron levels are too low for my blood to be accepted. I'm also deathly afraid of needles, so trying to take any blood, even for testing, is like pulling teeth.

You're so adamant about not having given blood Paul.

Nah, I've never given blood. Still too young.

No. And I don't intend to, unless I know for sure who it's going to go to.
I don't want strangers getting any of my blood. I also wouldn't want it to be used to save someone who could really not deserve to be saved.

So you are willing to condemn 1000s of people for 1 criminal?

I haven't because I'm not of legal age, but I have a... condition... that requires blood being drawn, so once I'm of legal age it will be donated. I also plan to donate anything I can... plasma, bone marrow, whatever. I'm also an organ donor. I don't really see any reason not to be.

Before this goes any further, I would like to remind you guys that we have a debate board, and this is not it. Please think your words through carefully before posting anything else.

Short answer: yes.
Not so short answer: people give blood because they want to maybe one day save someone. I don't want to have anything to do with saving another human being unless I'm sure they're "worth saving". *hence - misanthrope*

Now that that's cleared up, I'm done trying to turn this into a debate board. O.o

I'm still only 16. I think I probably would if I could, but I have to wait another 6 months, or thereabouts.
