Twinkle wrote:Oh God no. What was the point of Venom, really. He appeared in the last 40 minutes of the film! It was so rushed! I (being a comic book virgin practically) didn't see the evilness or twistedness of Venom, the way he's apparently meant to be portrayed. And he wasn't Venom, he was That 70's Show guy! Worst casting ever. Isn't Venom meant to be huge?!

Personally, I think the film should have been centered round Sandman and the cymbiate suit and ended when we first saw Venom, setting us up for number 4. Apparently, the director didn't want Venom in the film at all but the producer assumed that was what the public wanted. Okay, so we all wanted a incredibly rushed film where there was no depth to any of the characters at all?!

However, Sandman was badddd. Kudos to whoever cast him.

What was up with the badly directed tap dancing across the piano scene? Urgh. I did, however, enjoy the Saturday Night Fever strut down the street. Made me giggle. But why did Peter Parker suddenly turn into Emo-man? Please god, just kill the fringe!

Rant over. :D

Totaly agree!
They should have left when the symbiote takes over eddie and then its all set up for spiderman 4. The movie felt too rushed, i mean look how quickly it went from being all about sandman (who was a the shisnick) to new goblin to venom!

I say spousal abuse is wrong and who ever laughed when MJ got hit, tat's your own business. But i really do not like Kirsten Dunst. I find her so whiney and annoying :x
But I did like Tobey Maguire as an emo. I thought he looked way better all emo-fied, but personally i couldn't stop looking at the bulge in his neck from the suit. He's put on alot of weight since the first spiderman i say.

Overall rating of the film, I thought is was way better than spiderman 2 caus that was just.......BAD

I saw it today and...

I LIKED IT.
I thought the whole casting of the movie was done very well. I liked the numerous comedic moments sprinkled throughout the movie and the return of all the same actors/characters in this film from the first two. I loved the remote triggered desk at the newspaper -- especially when pills flew everywhere.

"Not that one..."

I have to admit that that was pretty hilarious.

He wasn't an emo though! Yes he had eyeliner and floppy hair, but the next time you see an emo walking out of a trendy bar in sharp dress, winking at women rather than writing poetry about unrequited love... you haven't seen an emo.

"Stabby-rip stab-stab" and "women's jeans with pointed shoes that make you look like an anorexic elf" are what spring to mind when you think of emo, not a sexually-explosive toby macguire.

I saw it on Tuesday and all I can say is BLERGH. I loved the other 2 Spiderman movies but I really didn't like this one. It was so corny. Its really too bad because I was excited about it. The american flag scene was particularly odd.. cue slow motion swing infront of monsterous billowing flag. I also didn't like the intorduction the symbiot, how it grabbed onto the motorbike than just chilled out in Toby's apartment for however long.

However there were a ton of parts in the movie that I did like :D, such as the desk hehe. I always love scenes with the editor.

The American flag was featured in both of the previous movies. Spiderman is as all american as you can get without being captain america... what colour is his suit?

Ahh good point! I never made that connection before.

I just got back from seeing the movie about a hour ago. I don't see what all of the complaints are about. It had action, romance, a cameo from Stan 'The Man', some good comedy, what more does a Marvel movie need?

I liked the conflict between Peter and the symbiote. It really goes back to Peter's struggle to be a good hero. They could have had more Venom, but that would have stringed the movie on too long. You can't tell a story with Venom without first establishing the Black Suit Spidey. To tell a good, full Spiderman vs Venom tale would take too long to establish in the frame of one movie unless Black Suit and Venom were already established.

The only thing that kept bugging me was why was Gwen Stacy still alive! Well, there is always next time.

i saw this movie the friday it came out, and i definently liked most parts of it more than the last two.

my favorite thing was how the black spiderman suit gave him eyeliner and made him emo, but i hated him walking down the street dancing and thought every single one of the women he made eye contact with when he was dancing should of slapped him in the face.

In the theater i saw it at it was one of the most annoying audiences ever, because they clapped for the previews, and about every little moment after that. the only time i thought it was ok/funny is when one of the people i saw it with yelled out "jerry! Jerry!" when peter punched MJ down in the jazz club.

its one of my biggest pet peaves when people clap at movies!

but other then all of that stuff i like the movie

Kind of seems like the spider man movies keep going downhill since the first one came out...but thats just me.

I should point out that Stan Lee has made a cameo in all three Spiderman movies, after the first movie I started watching for Stan in other marvel movies, hes always there!

He was actually supposed to have a bigger role in the first movie, where he explains to Peter what's going on. I'm not sure if there's a "director's cut" version out there somewhere, but I imagine his role is much larger in that one.

When I saw Stan Lee, and listened to his speech, I was rolling on the floor laughing. Really, it was one of the best parts of the movie, if only because it's so ludicrous.

Side note: I will always have respect for Bruce Campbell for his work in these movies. That, and Army of Darkness.
