Pink, you are a brave, brave soul.

I love my Vista. It's been a huge improvement from XP. I love the look, the feel, and the performance of it. I have several gadgets in my sidebar (including a countdown to graduation in 218 days :)). I'm sorry for people who have had problems with Vista, but that hasn't been my experience at all. :D

Ditto here, I'm pretty sure the "Vista is the devil, Yay XP" crowd just aren't old enough to remember the "XP is the Devil! Yay ME!" personally.

XP;it's been that way for a while, and it's going to be that way for a while.

Heh. I was a ME person for a while myself, until my husband did something to my machine (I'm still not sure what) and it cause a memory leak. I rebuilt it and it works just fine for my brother now (gave it to him to replace the 98 machine he had).
I'm old enough to remember the "Oh, no, 95" bit after we moved from 3.1. Not to mention that I still know how to use 3.1. :P I even have a laptop that, if it would turn on, would boot into 3.1.
I know I'll adjust to Vista fine once I have to, but at the moment, we're primarily supporting XP. Part of the problem with Vista (and likewise, Office 2007) is that many older folks don't want to hafta relearn how to do some things. (This is a generalization, as I know several people my grandparents age that DO keep up with technology) Being in computer support, I hear their gripes on a daily basis - and that is what I dread the most.

Anyways, I digress. My sister's laptop runs Vista. I think that's the only Vista machine in my whole family.

*fixed*

What you're saying couldn't possibly be true. Nobody on earth liked ME/2000. 98 on the other hand was <3

There are 3 Windows XP (My computer, My mum's computer and my mum's laptop) and 2 Vistas (my laptop and my sister's computer) and 1 Windows Unknown (My brother's laptop since I don't know what Windows Operating System he uses but I do know that is definitely Windows) in my household.

Change happens. I love new technologies and such...I think I've adopted that from my computer geek husband. lol.

@Pickles: hey, I remember those days. I remember DOS, and the fun of changing the C prompt to read: "this system will self destruct" and other ridiculous messages. I'm happy with Ubuntu though, even if I think a 6-month release cycle is ridiculously short

Sounds like a catchy name for a new product. :D

There are more Linux users than Mac users.
FTW, PPL. XD

I'm currently talking to you folks on a Ubuntu 6.06 machine, but my offline computer is Windows 2k Pro.
I used to like ME, but ever since I started 2k Pro, it's just...awesome. I haven't had nearly the blue screens I had, but I'm having a problem with it dropping my video card drivers...o_o;;

Oh well. XD

EDIT - eilu, quick question about Hardy: did they make a patch so that way you can have Shockwave, or does it still have to be installed via Wine with a Firefox install, or do you know?

Vista.
It's not bad.

Just upgraded the desktop (old PIII with 256MB RAM) to Puppy Linux 4 and it's blazing fast- even beats the laptop (Centrino Duo, 1.5GB RAM on Ubuntu 8.04) on boot time. It's great for older systems, except it looks like Windows 95 :P .

@DM was on fire!: sorry, I don't know. I've never bothered to get shockwave all the way since 6.06 so I have no idea. Never really needed it, and I didn't like the shockwave games on neopets so I never bothered.
There's a world of difference between 6.06 and 8.04 though, you should upgrade.
