Winter Sidebar...

I did not get the sidebar.

I did get the calendar prize every day.
I have a snow pet (non-active)
I have a Christmas pet (non-active)
I have a snowbunny (attached to the snow pet)

I did have the maraquan sidebar active when I went to the page.

I joined in September, so I didn't have any of the previous years' AC prizes (unless one was sitting in my SDB). I never used any of my prizes, either; I was going to save them for resale months after the AC closed.

Also, as a new member, I was stuck with the default sidebar when I went to the AC. In fact, this was my first sidebar....

Some other theories were discussed when the sidebar was released. Maybe some of the discussion from the old advent thread will help.

My mom got the sidebar and I did not:

My mom:
-Owns a Blue Bruce and a Buzzer Petpet
-Visited sometime on the morning of Dec. 31st
-*edit*Visited calendar through link in News
-She did not collect all 31 days worth of prizes
-She MIGHT have had the "let it snow" av equipped
-She probably had some of the advent stuff in her items

I'm asking her what else she did that day. . .

edit: Do you guys think it has something to do with how you got to the Advent Calendar? Like instead of using a quick link?

I didn't get it.

I did go to every advent though (or at least, I'm fairly certain I did...)
I had pratically every item from the advent calendars (in gallery)
Had a Snowickle equipped on non-active pet
No christmas/snow pets
Have Let it Snow! av (but not active)

I did NOT get it.

-I collected every day, usually within the first few minutes (unless the lag was too bad; one day I think it took almost 20 for things to load).
-I have four pets and none are painted Christmas or snow or have a snow petpet.
-I have the "Let it Snow" av, but I always use Meepit Juice Break instead.
-I probably had less than 10k NP on hand, because I usually deposit anything more than that in the bank.
-I throw all advent items in my SDB, not my inventory, and I have everything from the past three years, I believe.

I think this is monumentally unfair. How are we supposed to be able to figure it out? This happened two months ago, and a lot of people can't even remember the little details of their account and what they did that day. And what good are theories if we can't test them until December 31, 2006? If we're wrong, we'll have to wait another full year for the sidebar. Why can't just one stupid sidebar be a gift for everyone and not subject to "requirements?"

I'm actually sort of relieved. This is far better and perhaps more interesting (yay puzzles!) than having it randomly received.

I did get it, I collected everyday. I remember I got it earlier then usual. Maybe the first so many people to collect at the advent calender got it. I thought that everyone got it . I was still using the haunted sidebar if that had anything to do with it I don't really think so but you never know. OR maybe you already had to have so many sidebars unlocked. I know it didn't have anything to do with how long you have been in neopets because my family members have been doing it longer then me and they didn't get it.

-Another pet had a snowbunny
-'Let it snow' avator is a no
-About 900k-1M NP$ on hand
-45-47 items
-Got every Calander item to date
-Was on my own computer
-Using Firefox?
-Went some point just after midnight
-Went through the Happy Valley page
-Am willing to try to remember any other detail pointless detail that may be stored somewhere in my brain.

Here's my data from the advent thread that night, combined with the new stuff.

I did NOT get the winter sidebar.

I was using default sidebar;
I watched the animation all the way through on the collection page (not the first page;)
I use firefox;
I collected every day;
I didn't have any advent items in inventory; they also were not all in my sdb because the furniture items were in my neohome;
I have the Let It Snow avatar, but was not using it;
I probably had more than 10K on hand;
I had no Christmas or Snow pets or winter petpets attached;
I visited the advent through my bookmarks, not the explor map.

Edit: Forgot to list that I collected at exactly 12:00:15.

What about your pets? What sort of pets do you own? Petpets? Special items in your inventory? Items equipped to your pet? Those you remember of course.

Maybe it had something to do with the time you clicked to receive the prize; like everyone who hit the button at exactly XX:XX:02 seconds got the sidebar?

If so... that's really evil. I have no idea what the exact time was when I collected the final gift.

I'm with Cranberry. If you had a chance to get it at the AC every day in December it would be one thing: we'd each have at least have 31 chances to figure it out. One chance once a year is totally unreasonable.

And I agree. What's wrong with giving us on smurfing sidebar as a free gift?

Perhaps I'm just annoyed as I really WANT the Christmas sidebar, but didn't get it.

No Christmas or snow pets or petpets, yes Let It Snow avatar (though probably not active) yes to collecting all prizes.

She's pretty sure she had the Plastic Fir avvie active. Maybe you had to use an Advent Calendar avvie?

I really wanted that sidebar and was extremely irked when I didn't get it. I didn't even bother to do anything on the site for a few days after that. Hehe...

It IS random that you would have the requirements unknowingly, heh. This is not fun, there is next to nothing to go on to try to figure it out.

The only thing I'm not seeing discussed anywhere is at what point during the animation people clicked. There were some rumblings very late in the day or possibly the day after that you had to click when the clock struck midnight in the animation and the streamers were falling.

I watched the animation a few times because it was so fun, but had no idea at which point during it I went and claimed my prize. No sidebar for me. I'm not sure if I went through the explore map or if I used the link in my portal.
