Get dentures. Dentures are always white. And you just leave them to soak overnight in this chemically stuff...easy really!

Hopefully we won't have to go that path in time. :o

I see we have many different ideas on how to clean up yellowed teeth and make them white, but i haven't read anything yet on how to keep them white, or what makes them yellow in the first place. Certain foods that shouldn't be eaten?

There are many reasons why someone may have yellow or stained teeth. Silver fillings might have grayed the surrounding tooth enamel, so changing those for the new tooth-colored material dentists use can make a world of difference. Foods like coffee, tea, and berries can cause stains. You can cut back on the foods causing the problem, but who wants to give up their coffee in the morning, much less fresh berries? And, unfortunately, some people just have natural yellow-colored teeth. Serious staining and discoloration (natural or otherwise) cannot be corrected with toothpaste, but products like Colgate Total Plus Whitening Toothpaste are as good a place to start as any. (Source: Journal of Clinical Dentistry, 2002, volume 13, number, pages 91–94).

Abrasive toothpaste can also be a problem because over time the abrasives help erode the surface of the tooth, and that can further the yellowing. The external part of the tooth is white, but underneath the white enamel is a yellow dentin core. The white part erodes, in part because of age, and the erosion is just sped up by hard toothbrushes or abrasive toothpaste.

Put a little bit of Baking Soda on your toothpaste when you brush your teeth.

Seriously. Oh. My. Gosh. It's unbelievable, and its cheap. Try it before you go out and spend tons of money on whittening stuff. It makes a noticable difference after a day.

umm.. is this true? is this clinically proven to be safe? um... if this worked, why dont people do it more often?
because the government wants you to buy pointless products that you could do without
like you can make coffee out of acorns...
and we can grow our own food
but that doesnt stop producers...

Kind of off topic, but it reminds me.

YOu can make a kind of coffee out of Dandelion roots. You dry the dandelion and then bake it in the oven, crush it up and use it as the ingredient in coffee. It tastes different and instead of waking you up it makes you drowsy.
