I haven't seen this tip posted, but for folks stuck on the water puzzle - there are three rooms in the plant. Make sure all the wheels are oriented with the cross bars vertical and horizontal - not diagonal. All the levers should point down except for the middle one in the third room. That seems to be consistently solving the puzzle for lots of folks.

Thanks, but it didn't help me. Urgh, I'm about ready to just give up.

It might possibly be by letter, like with the databases?
(Mine wasn't that, mine was closed open - open open off - off off on)

Can't even get in the plant...
I've followed the instructions thrice, plant, quarry, secret wall room, click amulet, press continue, farm, plant; I've even disabled my cookie and ad blocker as well as my internet security and firewall to no avail... the door just doesn't want to open for me, am I doing something wrong?

something else will happen that is to be recorded in the archives, methinks. each character's mini background is four pages long; 1 full picture and 3 of text. well, altador is the only one left to uncover, yet there are 6 more pages. i wonder what event or WHO is entitled to the final pages..
The janitor shouts, "Punch Club?! You went to Punch Club without me?! RAARGHHR! I LOVE PUNCH!! I WISH I HAD SOME RIGHT NOW!!!" He foams at the mouth and growls incoherently.

The last two pages, I assume, will cover the Great Betrayl, seeing as to how it isn't clearly discussed(that I'm aware of).

Don't give up, if all else fails, do it systematically.
Room 1: SS
Room 2: SSU
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD
Room 1: SS
Room 2: SCU
Room 3: UUU, UUD, UDU, UDD, DUU, DUD, DDU, DDD

Room 2: CCD

Those are the first 64 combinations. After that, you'll want to set the first room to SC, then CS, then CC, for the other 192 combinations. Hopefully you'll get the right combinations before then! You can also rule out some of the combinations that would cause a flood...algorithm is time-consuming, but works every time.
EDIT: S means straight, C means crooked, U means up, and D means down. S and C are for wheels and U and D are for levers.

Ok so I have tried 4 of the ways posted by other members to get the stupid water thing to work and its not working, I guess that would mean its random for every person? If so this is a pain up the rear end...
Im trying to figure out if each valve and switch relate to a certain tub or gutter.. im useless with maths and its confusing me though, all i know is there are 8 switch/valves, 3 rooms and 12 tubs/gutters.
im so about ready to head over to neopets HQ and flood their offices for this one lol

I liked the old school scooby doo ending to the astronomy club situation. And is it just me, or does the Protector constellation look like a christmas ornament?
To all those spazzing out about not getting the waterworks puzzle. Breathe. It's ok. You have time. If you're just not getting it today, try again tomorrow. There's no need to work yourself all up over it. The plot is not ending tonight, you have time.

I ended up clicking at random. It probably took about a half hour, but eventually it happened. Something I only did once and avoided it after that was to have everything up so that there was a flood. After that I just clicked and turned randomly.
Here are mine:
+ X + X V ^ ^ V
I also observed that the same directions didn't always get the same results, so pulling down the lever in room two didn't always result in the same water flow.
