"Danny Boyle is to followup his 2002 hit zombie film 28 Days Later with the sequel 28 Weeks Later, following with the aftermath of the original "It's got a very good idea in it," Boyle told Sci-Fi Wire. "[The idea] is that ... Britain has been emptied. There's nobody there. It's completely dead. And six months later the Americans arrive to reboot it back up again, particularly the franchises, obviously."

The sequel, which Boyle is involved with but won't direct, is "sort of to reintroduce life into the country," Boyle said. "So that's the premise of it. It's got a good idea in it. I like that."

A new cast will be used for the sequel, Boyle added. "It won't be the people who were in the first one," he said. "They're too busy. Naomie Harris is doing [the sequels to] Pirates of the Caribbean, and Cillian Murphy is in Batman [Begins]. They're doing really well. So good luck to them, really.""

Ugh. Ugh ugh ugh! IMO, the first one was NOT good enough to stand on its own, much less warrant the making of a sequel. This one won't even be a renter.

Be fair. There was some good shots of Manchester on the horizon (as viewed from the M62), burning slowly but surely until there was none of it left. (some people, particularly Arsenal fans, would have enjoyed that much)

I never even saw the first one. (Been meaning to, never got the chance.) A sequal might be interesting enough to at least read reviews about.

It's not great, but it has the occasional jolt in it. Danny Boyle's least inspired film, which is odd, seeing as it made the most money.

Give me Shallow Grave any day.

I liked the movie. It wasn't spectacular or anything but it was decent.
I would've never have picked that particular movie to make a sequal but *shrugs* ya never know. It might be decent.

I don't know. I liked the movie alright, but a sequeal sounds odd, and then on top of that it's a new cast. It could turn out okay, but I'm not optimistic.
