Just seen a new ad on Neo - advertising the only site I've seen that ignores copyright laws left right and centre. Is this Neo trying to boost a rival site - I doubt they would be friendly as Mara steals everything they do from Neo - or just taking a random advert to get a little extra money?

Something seems suspect to me.

I've seen that before, it seems like a rip-off to me. Everything is the same, they have marapoints, maramail, even a lab ray! The layout is very similar, too. There are other sites that are like Neopets, too.

The neoboards were going crazy about the ad the other day. And not in a positive way. Basically everyone agreed the site was utter...wasn't that great.

OMG ... I just went to the Marapets site and joined, created a pet, just to see what it looked like. It's absolutely awful! The only thing it's got going for it is that is is layed out pretty much exactly like Neopets.

Why are they bothering with this? It's like a bad Neopets mirror from the crap-tastic dimension!

The layout isn't the only thing. Everything is the same just with the word Mara replacing neo. The only differences are the graphics and the 'original' games.

Even the fonts look the same. This is weird...it's almost like a parody. Like DeadJournal for LiveJournal.



It's an ugly site though, even being almost exactly copied from Neopets. I guess it takes more than CTR+C to make something of quality.

Simple.... the ad wasn't placed by Neopets. In otherwards, its not like Marapets called up Neopets advertising dept. and said, hey how much is it to put our ad in your ad banner rotation? See that "Ads by Google"? Its the google thing that put it there. But what I do not know, of course, is how one would get their banner into google's ads. That answer could be best explained by the Marapets site owners.

How bad is the artwork? It's hilarious!

Come to think of it, marapets will definitely get a significant boost in user numbers from this.

Ive seen marapets before. The art looked so bad, I didnt even want to join. Art is a big thing in a petsite for me.

Well I can see this ad stealing quite a few digruntled Neopets players.

Serves Neopets right for not checking out their ads as diligently as they should. Maybe now they'll start viewing the ads differently.

I joind mara to see what it was like a while back. It sucked, everything was free o_0 the lab ray thing, I thought it was a rip off, and all the users got on it because there were no scammers, well why would there be scammers, they can't scam you cuz there's nothing to scam from you. I hated it, the avatars sucked, the drawings were terrible, now I only use it because that's the only way I can get my smileys from smiley central on, then save them to my comp and put em on msn

Wow. That's just really. really. really. bad. It's funny, though, how neopets is considered a bad word.
