Yep it's been that way for a while. In actual fact, it's also listed in PPT's "Did You Know!" box as well.

I feel for the poor soul who really does mean "this is not a scam"

Oh the possibilities for that filter  But I'll be nice and keep those to myself. I just want to see that filter put in place. I think that would be a major improvement on the site, there'd be less reports to sift through (because there'd be no need for reports) and less annoyed people on the boards.

I know there must be some kind of filter, I just haven't figured out what the trigger is. Some people have gotten warnings for posting chain letters when in fact, they're actually posting on a board or sending a neomail to someone telling them not to try chain letters and why they shouldn't. But the people actually doing it aren't getting warnings! I'm guessing it's something like Post this...because the wording on the darn chains have changed just a little.

Hot Tub= swamp
G-string (or boxers?)= Long Johns
Pool party= stupid party.

Have fun, kiddies!

Hmm, let's make a complete listing of Neopets filtered words here =] 162 started us off pretty good.

I don't recommend anyone tries testing words though!

I think that hot tub one is quite funny. Why don't they use filters on words like... sex.

Has any other brits or aussies got really frustrated because when you say "mate" sometimes it changes to fish. I think it's when you type "my mate" it's really frustrating. But it does look funny :)

Also bikini used to change to "Cardigan". Theres a load of other filter words too. Pretty funny :D

I think that's a really good idea. :) But they should probably add more things to filter like "I am not a scammer", "go to this site for neopoints", etc.

x_x I got frozen once. I was lending something and I asked for collateral and the person said I was a scammer. I said "This is not a scam" and I got iced.

Mon Jul 26, 2004 8:49 pm

o_0 unfortunately that's because most scammers actually will post saying "this is not a scam"...hence the filter. Sorry about that happening to you though.

I didn't know about the mate filter. Yes, people from Australia do use the word to mean friends, but I guess because other people would use that word in a not so nice way, they felt they needed to filter it.

Bikini I'm guessing because of some of the horrors people will post with their party boards - party will get you warned and/or frozen by the way.

They should have a filter for sex, sexy, hottie, etc. so people can't make those words into usernames or pet names, let alone post them on the boards. Those words aren't supposed to be allowed and I've had problems trying to do wiz searches for people on quests. I can't post certain usernames for the person searching. Now if I can't post the username, there's something wrong with it, right? So they shouldn't exist in the first place.

:roflol: Aww, I'm sorry, you didn't know that if you type Jelly World the filters will change it to random other worlds? Don't you know Jelly World doesn't exist?! :P

Anyway, I agree with Twinkly completely. It is not a good idea to try to play with the filters on the site. I've seen alot of warnings for that, not to mention instant freezings for typing certain words.
