in that case, it could be due to neopets server. eh...did you set your browser to accept cookies? you might also want to fiddle around with your security settings as well.

Yea, I was accepting cookies. And I've checked out my security settings several times today. I even completely turned them off (dangerous, I know). But still no luck.

Oh well. I probably won't be on over the weekend, so hopefully it'll all be fixed when I return on Monday.

Don't forget to turn off any firewalls you have. That's what made me keep getting that.

It doesn't help, honestly. I have to turn my firewalls off to use Neopets properly anyway, otherwise I can't get prizes from the various wheels and other places, or train my pets, etc. So, I always turn them off before I log into Neo.

It's all good, though. This will probably be my last post until the start of next week, so hopefully, when I return the news will be good.

And, with luck, the support team might have gotten back to me by then.

What happens when I try to log in :

Enter my password, etc

It takes me to the Pet Central Page without my username, pet, and NP's on the sidebar.

If I click on something like the Neoboards, it asks me to log in again! ARGH.

It works on Mozilla though.

It does work on Mozilla for you, but not IE? Have you gotten the latest critical updates from Microsoft. There are 5 of them, released July 13. Check your windows update and make sure you have these. Right before I updated these I couldn't get any page to open anywhere. After updating and rebooting I was fine again.

It sounds like you've done everything else as far as cookies, clearing temporary internet, checking firewalls, etc. If your isp stores graphics, clearing those can be a help - that can end up lagging your computer and causing problems.

Lastly, check your computer clock on your desktop. If the date and time is not correct you won't be able to get anywhere on Neo. I don't know why, but that has helped people, especially the log in, go to pet central and not be logged in. It's worth a try anyway I guess.

It happened to me recently. I had to login by going directly to another page, not the front page, and then logging in from there.

Wait, do you try to go to neopets by going to your fav's folder and clicking the neopets link ?? If you do, then delete the link, delete all the cookies, temp files and then type in the neopets address in the address bar and see if that works. I was going through my thread and realised that that's what i did to make it ok again.

Rather than using Netscape, use Mozilla or Firefox (both at http://www.mozilla.org). Netscape is old and clunky, Firefox is the young and sexy browser of the bunch. It's what I use, and I'm pretty happy with it. It also blocks unrequested popups, and can even play a sound when it kills one. Good times.

Okay, quick update:

I finally managed to log into Neo very late on Friday night, which was good, because at least I got a small Neo fix before I went to bed.

Anyway, after checking my email today, I found a reply from the support staff. Apparently the problems I had logging in weren't confined to me, and were caused by a bug in the new security code system. This has, according to the support staff, been fixed now. So hopefully no more problems for me... or anyone else for that matter!
