Ok, not that I expect anyone to care about this with so much else going on, but I've decided how I'm going to handle lookups from now on.
I'm going to leave the screenshots and the name of the lookups on my petpage. But, I'm taking the code off. I'll just type something like,
"Due to bandwidth concerns, as well as people misusing my lookups (removing credit, only using part of a lookup, changing my graphics or code), if you would like to use one of the lookups on this page, please neomail me giving the name of the lookup you'd like to use.
I'll then place the code on a petpage and will neomail you back telling you where to go to get the code. You'll have 2 days to get the code once I neomail you. Then it will be deleted. This is to keep others from using the code."
The bandwidth concern is valid, as I've found out I'm using alot of page hits - people going to the petpage, using a lookup, then deciding to try another one, etc. I do pay for my image hosting. And maybe this way I'll be better able to keep track of who's using what and I can check to make sure no one's messing around with anything.
The codes themselves I already have saved on notepad (thank goodness), so it's just a matter of copy/paste in a quick textarea - as long as I can get to the petpage to put it up.
I think I'll make these changes when I can (can't right now, usually can only do that at like 3 a.m. my time - Bleh, try typing codes when you're punchy tired) edit the petpage. Why do petpages go goofy so much? Anway, sound like an ok plan to you?
