This might be related to the items...but it's not of much importance...
Do not trade with anyone unless you are using the Island Trading Post. If you trade with anybody without using this then it is at your own risk and you could lose your items or Neopoints.

This is just a little bit of info I found:
Lately people have been trying to trick others into buying items from their shops in return for 'secrets' and contest entries. This is just a scam to get you to buy over-priced items. There are no secrets to making NP fast, anyone found to have a scam in their shop will have their shop deleted and account frozen.

I don't know if it's rarely...many times people are frozen for adopting a pet that was dumped in the pound on a scammed account. And there's no way of knowing that pet was on a scammed account, as the pet description/petpage is cleared as soon as a pet is disowned. Same has happened to people who buy from a shop, tp or auction or get an item from a scammed account.
Best thing to do is take this person off your nf list, go to site preferences and change them to accept only from nf and block incoming nf requests for the time being. As far as the items you've gotten, no, they're not expensive or rare items -- which in this case is good I think.
Before they had the option of only accepting items from nf, if I received something from someone I didn't know or didn't know why it was sent, I would simply send it right back to the person and a neomail (if their's wasn't blocked) thanking them for the item, but that they should really keep their things.
