All I know is that once I tryed out the rumer on the WoE by clicking on the spin button as soon as the clock hit midnight (I had the neopets main page in another window, and i constantly refreshed it), and I got 10 k. Could have been luck though.

I think timing may have something to do with such things, but it is quite hard to go exactly at the time you're supposed to (especially if it's so many seconds past the minute). Actually it may not even be a factor anymore, but it doesn't hurt to try a few times.
Another thing is that I think it's best if you take a weak pet to Coltzan if you want something, because I've been taking my Level 20 Acara to the Shrine two days in a row and nothing has happened either time. But when I took my Level 2 Usul, she has gotten something every time.

yar i know.. hmmm.. pet with a lower lvl always get something.. well.. my pet used to be lvl40++ but now.. dropped to 26
