i'd take it as compliment because PPT actually matters enough for neopets to block us.

I believe (though I could be wrong), that Adam's tlaking about the "Dailies" and "Games" links PPT used to have... there was a list of links on the right side of the main page, so you could simply click to get to your Daily Interest, Coltzan, jelly, etc... Then recently, TNT made a new rule, that you had to have Neopets' express permission in order to link out from them.. for the rest of that story, you'd have to ask SL, since he's the site owner. I'm in the dark after that!

to be honest, whats the difference between linking to http://www.neopets.com (your your referral address) or one of the pages within the site??!

HTTP has a tag called 'Referer'. Suppose you link from http://www.pinkpt.com/index.php to http://www.neopets.com/island/, Http will send the referer tag with the value of 'http://www.pinkpt.com/index.php'. I suppose that you can get around it by using a 302 Redirect, but I suppose they'll bust -Temporarily Blocked- for that too.

Actually it was different.... someone came up with a way to link to offsite sites on Neopets lookups and shops (rather than only links on the neopets.com domain). Basically a lot of people were linking to PPT (I suspect that a staff member who viewed the thread here about it noticed all the links to the domain.) To prevent people from linking to pinkpt.com, they filtered any variant of "PPT" and "pinkpt" to "Temporarily Blocked" since.

I know you can't type pinkpt or ppt on the boards, etc., and I wouldn't push it on a guild board to be honest. I got a warning for typing ebay on my guild message board.
It could be all the stuff about pop-ups, spyware, etc., that horrid rumor that ppt had cgs...it could have been the links back to the dailies (I don't know). As far as finding a way around the no outside links rule on Neo, I don't think anyone should do that. That rule is there for a very good reason.
Yes, it can be annoying and unfair to all us honest people who want to link, say, ppt, a graphics site for backgrounds, layouts, etc. But for every 5 honest people linking, there was at least 2 linking to fake login pages, scam sites, cg, etc. And the no outside link rule was always in place, it just wasn't enforced for a very long time until the scamming got out of control.

Heh, that reminds me of that Neopian Times story I wrote a long time ago...

It originally said auction off on Ebay, but it never made it in the story.
Back on topic, I noticed the -Temporarily blocked- thing on the boards in December or so, around the time of the arguments about cookie grabbers and such. Though apparently it had nothing to do with that, that's when it happened I think. Though it being about offlinking, I find that a little odd...I mean, I've seen far more people link SF and Tineneohelp on the boards than PPT. Such is life though, I suppose.
