especially the one you had to dl a game to your cell for 4$..

Fri Jun 04, 2004 11:15 pm

I was actually thinking about the Super Attack Pea one, but yeah, that $4 was pretty recent too. I was lucky enough to know someone who lent me their Faerie Queen Doll before they sold it. I doubt anyone will lend me a SuAP though. :P

Fri Jun 04, 2004 11:39 pm

then you'll only need the chia pea.. lol
and yeah that was really a mean av.....but i really hate the ones that retire after a day, cuz i usually miss them..*grunt*

If someone is lending:

Could I borrow the doll? I don't have full collateral but look at my account to see why I wouldn't waste it on a picture. I can give you 330k and my trust....Plus you can keep 40k as a tip! I really love this av and collect them so I'd appreciate it... Oh yeah my u/n is icy_crystal_princess !

Thanks a ton! :)

then what happends after everyone who donated got the avatar? are you just going to keep it? :?:

(i also have 600k to donate if a plan comes up..)

That's always risky. Someone would have to try to sell it at the end and re-distribute np to the original contributors.

I would not get into any of this "pool" business. First, I saw alot of this on the avatar board and every single one of them turned out to be a scam. People were putting in as much as they could, the person holding the np would buy the doll, come back to the board showing it off then take off the the doll and everyones' np -- leaving them with nothing to show for being in the pool.

Also, note that Neo is really cracking down on the lending/borrowing thing again. There have been a number of freezings, especially with people asking for a "fee" or "tips". Why they keep releasing these amazingly expensive avatars knowing people are going to lend/borrow/scam/steal is beyond me.

Lastly, if anyone offers you or if you have and even are considering offering anyone or accepting a code for the cellphone game/avatar DON'T! They were keeping count for awhile last night on the avatar board - 19 people were frozen in under an hour for that. It's wrong, it's cheating and technically it's stealing if you haven't paid to download and play the game yourself.

I know I'm somewhat new-ish to all of you at PPT (I'm not new to PPT itself, but I wasn't that active on the forums before they went down), but IF somebody is lending (which has probably been answered on a previous page, but whatever ;)), I'd very much like to borrow a Faerie Queen Doll. I have 1.5 million NP for collateral in items (a Quiggle T-Shirt and Quiggle Babydoll T-Shirt). Please, if you are lending, consider my offer.

Haha, yeah bronz, I almost forgot about needing the chia pea. Oh well.

That's a very good question. I think they just enjoy watching people squirm.

hmph that would be right, and pooling nps isn't always bad, it just does depend though :) my guild has a few members who are avvy obsessed, and they polled to get the av, and someone got it for me in my guild account *yes i know its risky to give out my password, but theres nothing in that account apparent from the fact its the one i use to communicate with, hence why i like the new avs* so we got it, and the person who contributed the most nps and who came up with the idea has just sold it, and i got all the nps i contributed back :)

but its very risky with people you don't know, but its also not all bad too :)

We know that this wasn't a one-day avatar, right?

Sun Jun 06, 2004 12:55 pm

Yeah, people are still getting it. :D

im not a major avie fan. i think neo stuffed up realsing these avatars as people go out of thier way to scam ripoof or doanything to get what is in reality a small piece of data proably not more than 6k and worth absoulety nothing ib real life.

it just seems silly to me.
oh wel good luck bowrowing one.

Well, I wandered into the avatar board, just out of curiousity, but I somehow found myself drawn in to a post where some one said they had a doll they were lending. It was an experience comparable to yelling at a wall to move...while six other people were attempting the same thing. Needless to say I was reminded why I only go to the neoquest board, and even then rarely. I was there for almost three hours, and yet they wouldn't lend it to me, and were rude about it too. 'Definately not doing that again.

Fortunately SOME good may have come out of it, a whole mob of people were attempting to borrow a different person's MSSP, and she was more than overwhelmed by them all (I felt sorry for the poor girl), but I managed to make an appearance before she left, so I MAY have a chance at getting that avatar. Considering how many people asked for it though, it may take a while. A long while. :(

*vows never to post in foreign neoboards again*

EDIT: Nope, no good at all. The person with the MSSP lent it to her friend...who then self-froze herself, and she's not unfreezing herself to give the card back. I feel so bad for the card's owner, she's only been on neo for 6 months and has only 100k left (she never even got a chance to use her card to get the avatar for herself)! :( Ahrg, and I REALLY wanted that avatar, the faerie doll one not so much. But again, I really hope the card's owner is okay... She offered to lend us the card when she saved up enough money to buy it again; we all had to assure her that she didn't owe us anything and it wasn't her fault. :(

I'm actually becoming quite concerned about what sort of message Neopets is teaching children. Pretty impressive, considering I don't have any children. I must be getting old. *ahem* In any case, yeah, I seriously doubt that teaching children to rip people off and scam them is a very good lesson. Most of the scams I can think of would get a real con artist jailed. Or a company in serious hot water.

I can't find anyone to lend me the doll.

It's so frustrating, and I just love the avatar aswell, which mkes it worse.

I know it's hard to trust people, and I know people run off with your stuff sometimes, but I have refrences of people who have lent me stuff before, aswell as the offer to lend a mazzew in return. GRRR! I hate expensive avatars.

trusting neoplayers unconditionally, even if they are neofriends can be unwise.

i remembered helping a stranger with his J-quest when he was looking for a zumagorn. of coz i counterchecked his account, scores and everything to ensure that he didn't just create an account to scam. i passed over the stuff to him just on the promise of returning a zumagorn. guess what, apparently, the player decided that my zumagorn is worth more than his entire account including his painted pets and self-froze. since then, i decided not to lend out stuff anymore with no strings attached.

i also frequently read abt disputes over the neoboards abt "trustworthy" neofriends suddenly showing their true colours in the face of temptation. true and trusting neofriends are hard to come by and it is foolish of these players to sacrifice long term benefit for short term gains.
