Hmm. I've never redeemed a code, so I'm not sure how they work, but I'm assuming they come sealed and attached so that people can't just read them without buying. If your code was still sealed, then just tell them that you don't have the receipt, but you can scan/type the code (whichever you have the capabilities for) -- and also mention that when you purchased it, the code was sealed. If it wasn't sealed, then the person who sold it to you might have already redeemed the code, in which case you're out of luck.
I definitely wouldn't lie to TNT about where you got it, but there's no sense in volunteering extraneous information, either.
