Since there's a thread about Movies that dissapoint you, why not have a thread about movies that suprised you--In a good way. I remember there was a thread about this, but I can't find it. Please lock if revived. For me it would have to be:

Holes: My mom and dad bought tickets for my brother's birthday and I saw it. It was wonderful, I love that movie.

50 First Dates: I saw this on the plane to Europe. It was suprisingly good and not as cheesy as other romantic comedies.

The Butterfly Effect

Ashton Kutcher in something worth watching! Not because it's Ashton Kutcher, but because it's a good movie.

Wow!

I second that. The Harry Potter movies were also an improvement over what I thought they'd be like, especially the sequels.

I thought Spirited Away was going to be horrible, but now it's my favorite movie :P

EDIT: Just remembered this one, because I just saw it again yesterday:p

Bionicle: Mask of Light.

I've been a HUUUUGE Bionicle fan (Despite the fact that I'm 13 XD) since it came out, and I thought they would screw up the plotline and characters. It was actually pretty good, although I was rather disappointed with the representation of the Makuta and Lewa...

The LotR trilogy... Ever since the first one was in theaters I wouldn't even bother looking at the billboards.
I had no idea what it was at all, except for a bunch of people running after a ring, and Elijah Wood was in it.

Then one day my mom borrowed the first 2 movies on dvd from a friend for me to watch, and suprisingly I loved it.

And Pirates of the Carabines too... I only heard things from the neoboards saying how hot Johnny Depp and Orlando are in the movie... And I figured since it was a disney movie it would be a bit stupid, but it was pretty good.

Pirates of the Carribean was great (I just love the scene where he comes into port on a sinking ship), The first dune movie remake (3 parter) was great (though the second which was an amalgation of the next two books wasn't).

Shaun of the Dead was an amazingly funny movie, British people are just far more entertaining (Plus I met the director).

I agree. That scene is like the definition of awesome. Of cool. Of smooth. I loved that part a lot. Before Pirates of the Caribbean, I had no idea who Johnny Depp was. xD And I couldn't spell Caribbean right.

I also didn't know who Johnny Depp was before I saw the movie, I just kept on hearing his name.
After I saw the movie I decided to check out what he really looks like, so I went to imdb.com and there was a pic of him there from some premeire and I was thinking 'Hmm, he looks alot like edward scissorhands'...
Then after scrolling down the page I realized he actually was edward scissorhands...
