Post by The Wonder Weezel »

After years of work, they finally released doom 3! I cant wait to buy it! I have to upgrade my computer a bit, as even MY computer cant take all that doominess.... but check this place out:
http://www.doom3.com

and be sure to see the trailer.

That game is going to be. Awesome.
And Scary.... I really dont like zombie people... zombies scare me more then any demon or monster in games.... and check out this cute fella...

Eh, I'm not going to get it. I dont like shooting or scary games that much, so,
nah. I even heard from some reviews that it wasn't that scary, according to the trailer and demo they saw. I just don't like shooting some monsters... -_-

(But I like slashing them with a sword and shooting them with magic! :D)

Finished it in one day, on Easy.
I started trying to finish Hard two days ago.^^

After the Delta Labs, it starts to get a bit boring. Lots of the same.
But, because it looked soooo good (1600x1200 or something, on Super High Quality) I just had to continue playing :P

I'll post some screenshots in a few minutes ;x

meh, after the less than resounding applause it got from diehard gamers i know, i think i'll just wait for dawn of war, after all, bloodthirsters are WAY cooler than anything doom has thrown my way in its age.

I finished it yesterday, and I thought it was really great. I was enormously suprised that it an on my computer too. I have an 800mhz, 384mb ram comp with a 32mb geforce 2 and it still worked fine.

It was very fun. Hell was cool and I thought the monsters were extremely well done. More pinkies would have been nice!

My only real problems were that the bodies gibbed, which was completely unrealistic, that the soul cube was a little lacklustre and despite being "an ultimate weapon bla blah" it didnt kill sarge. AND the finale wasnt particularly exciting either. spoiler.having the cyberdemon as the final boss wasnt great. he was huge, yes, but running around in circles killing things to charge the soul cube and then flinging it at him wasnt good. I'd have much prefered having whatever that thing on the cover of the manual was as the boss.

im currently to engrossed in dooms 1, 2 and final to care much for this eye candy.
doom 2, with its pixilated evils still makes me jump (then again, accidently pressing fire, while holding the plasma gun, and in a level full of spider thingys did that too)
oh, and that pic, is it a mancubus? (the things that have rapid firing fireball launchers in dooms 1 2 & final)
or the hell knight (admitedly, much less powerful than the hell baron, but scarier sounding none the less)

The thing in the picture is a hell knight.

Better graphics and sound doesnt make a game better, but doom 3 and hl2 were never meant to compete, they are completely different games, even if their subject matter does cross in parts.

Graphics and Sound DO make a game better... would you rather shoot at the Hell Knight or a 2D- pixely demon that lets out the same "SCREEEEE" everytime you shoot it?

If the gameplay was better, the second one. If the controls were better, the second one. Graphics can enhance a gaming experience, but I've seen text-based games that were very good. Graphics aren't everything.

Oh, and Doom 3 seems pretty cool. My computer would never run it, though.

I just started it a few days ago, but I've only gotten about half-way through it since I haven't had much time to play. So far, it's alright. The graphics are nothing short of amazing, but I still find the earlier ones more fun to play.
