Auction Snipers got iced???

#1 Post by yptee »

Read it from the neopets battledome board earlier that TNT are icing the auction snipers.

Is that true? Personally I hate the auction snipers because I lost a few items to them at the very last second (I needed the items to equip my pet or for the avatar, not for profit). Even though I think it is a bit harsh (TNT should issue a warning first) but I can't help to feel better :roflol:

Edit:
I know it is legal to do that but my opinion is biased right now because I lost out a few times over the weekend on an item I want to get an avatar and a weapon I can't afford right now after courting them for hours. :x

That's what my brother was saying, but I think it's completely unfair. One of those auction snipers was a good friend of mine. Auction sniping is completely legal, so why do they freeze the auction snipers while leaving the scammers unfrozen?

from what i have been reading, it was initially thought that the auction snipers were frozen for opening multiple windows to bid on item.

however, it doesn't seem to be the right reason and they think it is more likely to be a case of sabotage. one of the auction snipers put a "top 10" list of auction snipers in his userlookup. the player got frozen first (reason given as scamming) and the other players on the list were all frozen for using cheat programs. it seems like a case of misunderstanding..but until one of them gets an actual response..it's anyone's guess

People who search the auctions for a cheap item (say.. an unbuyable PB for 25k) and then they wait until the auction is about 5 seconds from ending, and grab the item at the very last second. Usually people with very fast connections.

It's completely legal though... I don't see why they would be iced.

Thats kind of silly. I sometimes bid at the last second because, hey, how else will you get a item for cheap?

Yeah, same as kitten, I'm anxious to get a Pink p/b and I can't grab one for 25k because it's called 'sniping'? Then who IS going to get it? :(

and how do they judge sniping? Doing it in the very last second I could see, but what about 5? 10? 30? A minute? How do they judge that?

That's certainly not very fair. Auction snipers get their goods and bid fair and square. They shouldn't be iced. Sounds like a rumor.

I THINK that auction sniping is a program that is downloaded and used to, when the auction is the shortest point from being over, bidding on the item.....that was my idea. o_O

Well, according to everything I've heard, anyone who has more than one window open while bidding on an auction is under suspicion. This makes sense, since someone could bid on one page, then hurry and bid on the second page, just to ensure they won. I think that's how my friend did auction sniping.

Although I hate auction snipers with a passion...well maybe not hate, but definitely somewhere in the dislike range...I do agree that it is legal. I don't really understand the point of freezing people who do it. Its really just another kind of restocking in my opinion.

Hmm, seems like people don't like snipers... *hides* If TNT is freezing people for sniping, that's really sick. It's as if they have decided that there are too many users using up too much bandwidth, so they use freezing as a way to keep the number of active users down. If they want to keep the number of active users down, they shouldn't do stuff like McDonald's promotions. Or if they do, use all the money they make from them to buy more servers.
