With 6 to play against the Yankees... And I'm considering that as a good thing! :D

I watch the hometown team, the Texas Rangers.

It's good to see that they've been doing better lately, especially after that 0-10 slide recently.

The rangers went 0-10? :o
They've played very well this season, even without A-Rod, but I don't think they'll make the playoffs. Boston and Anaheim are too far ahead.

My mistake. They actually never had a 0-10 streak (unless it was in the first half of the season, which I doubt), but have had a 2-8 streaks and maybe 1-9 one.

Of course, someone is going to take the blame for this. They held first in the West for a good part of the first half of the season before struggling right before the All-Star break and then collapsing in the second half of the season.

Pitching? That would be a good first choice. Besides Kenny Rogers and Ryan Drese, they really haven't had a legitimate starting pitcher.

Do you have a Rangers radio station? I'd be interested to find out just who they're blaming. In Boston, we have WEEI, which is essentially 24/7 Red Sox talk shows with very late night ESPN Radio broadcasts and occasional football rants interspersed. And whenever something goes wrong, guess who they blame? The manager, of course. Everything is Francona's fault.

We have Angry Bill. :D

I don't think we have a whole station dedicated to the Rangers, but I do know that 1080 AM broadcasts the games and 103.3 FM is a general ESPN sports radio station which does pretty much anything that's related to teams in this area. o_O

For the most part, I agreed with everything I heard on 103.3 while driving to and from school today. It seems like most everyone agrees that he (Francisco) should face some sort of punishment for breaking that woman's nose.

On the other hand, I as well as the talk show hosts agree that Oakland fans aren't perfect either. Some guy came on the show and even stated that Oakland has the worst fans in the league. He said that some relief pitchers told him that they could pick up a dollar in change thrown at them during the game. Also, remember when Carl Everett was hit by a cell phone? Yep, that was in Oakland too. I guess you're stuck with those kind of people when only 25 dollars gets you a lower box seat.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean to hit her though. I could care less if that other male fan was clocked on the head because, from what I've heard, he was seen heckling the Rangers' bullpen every single time the TV flashed over to the bullpen.

Of course, now we have a whole bunch of idiots from Dave Rinetti, the A's vice president of stadium operations, to Gary Gwilliam, the lawyer of the woman hit by the chair, trying to place blame on a range of things from all of the Rangers' players to the whole organization to all of the Rangers fans.

Obviously Gwilliam doesn't watch sports at all. He tried to claim that the whole Rangers team was trying to fight with the fans. If he had watched the game, he could find out that it was really only some of the bullpen that had problems with him. Then, he states that ...

Fans are fans and they have a right to have some fun and do some badgering if they want

...when we all know that it's possible to go past the heckling limits. When "badgering" starts getting personal with attacks on family members (or in this case, a person's weight), something needs to be done. That's where the blame on the security comes from. There wasn't security at the game last night. For one, I believe that security only came after the chair was thrown.

Should Francisco be suspended? Sure. Should he be banned? Of course not. When Mike Modano was cheaply shoved from behind on the way to the net (hockey), the NHL only gave Ruslan Salei a 10 game suspension despite that Modano had a broken nose, slight concussion, and strained ligaments in his neck.

Will the lady win her case? Maybe. When Jose Canseco got into a barfight with another guy and broke the man's nose and damaged the man's lip, the man sued for at least a million dollars. Canseco pleaded guilty and received three years probation, community service, and anger management classes.

Aside from all this mess, I'm blaming the media for all this uprising. It seems like they only care if blood is involved. When Mike Modano was shoved from behind by Salei, the hit actually looked much worse than the Bertuzzi on Steve Moore hit. However, Bertuzzi is under investigation for some assault charge and Salei gets off with a 10 day vacation.

All of this is pathetic.

Wow, 1080 AM plays Red Sox games here. Of course it's horrible reception. :(

Not sure if this is 100% true, but earlier this month at a Sox home game Manny Ramirez hit a foul ball and it hit some kid sitting near the Sox dugout. It's not really that weird, so why am I mentioning it?

The kid supposidly lives in Babe Ruth's old house.

And I think it was the same night the Yankees lost 22-0.

Yeah, that's true. It's sort of scary, eh?
And the guy who threw the chair should certianly be suspended.
Heckling and taunts, nobody wants, but chairs can really hurt.

Yes, so I've heard.
On the radio today, there was a discussion about the incident, and someone mentioned that the fan was making comments about a stillborn child that Francisco had. Although I agree with the suspension, I think that there should be a way to deal with the sick fans that say such things to players, such as ejection and "suspension" from the ballpark.

Thankfully, the game in New York was played last night, and Boston is only 2 1/2 games back in the loss column at this point. I don't know if they'll play today, but it looks possible.
