PS one is named PSP, it's not really a PS1, they said to aim it to the level of PS2 and nearly got to that

well let's get some basic points:

PSP

Good Things
More games
Bigger screen + quality
Movies to watch
Smooth design
Is smaller then DS

Bad Things
Uses more batterie
Costs more then DS
Is only capable of using special memory sticks and sort of mini discs
Has odd buttons

DS

Good Things
Touch Screen
Cheaper one of the two
Better buttons
You can play GBA (i think GB too) as well
Speach Recognition
Has almost as good quality as Nintendo 64
Very good sounds, a lot better then GBA
Capability of wireless playing with 4 players within 25 meters (through walls)

Bad Things
Less games, more moustache plumbers
Is a lot bigger then GBA, which i even think to be big
Less screen quality

there, as you can see, i personally am liking the DS more, i guess more people may want to help you, or you search on google to compare :)

You'll probably get a better response in the Console/PC forum, so I'll ship this over there. :)

I'm total sony man so psp all they way, i saw the ds, nothing specal about it, Plus PSP is more cusomizable and have more games that I'd like (come on Nintendo can't still try to run their company on their older charictors (except for Zelda and Metroid). Theres nothing diffenent of the buttion between ds and psp!!!! same layout just named differently

Hmm... do I get a neither choice? Well then that's the one I choose. I don't do handheld gaming. ;)

Since when is a 2nd screen that responds to touch "nothing special"? I have a DS, and the second you turn it on, it asks you for EVERYTHING! Your username, date, time, birthday, what colors to use, it was VERY customizable! And as for the games... Ninteno will stop using those characters once we stop loving them! :P

Nintendo DS all the way. Although I haven't played PSP, I know one thing. Sony has not, since the golden age of the industry, been known as the top developer of video games. I don't care if there are no graphics! A story that makes me think, laugh, and learn something I can use outside of video games.
As much as I may enjoy swinging Sora's keyblade in Kingdom Hearts, the rough story is not really that exciting- it only has exciting details; Being based off of Disney movies, the limited humor is, well, Disney; And I learn nothing about the world outside of a game.
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, on the other hand, holds all of those qualities: The story is constantly revealing a new side, and always producing revelations that turn the goal of the game upside-down; Anyone who doesn't laugh at Mario & Luigi either lacks a voice box or an I. Q., and it uses a form of humor that comes out of Japanese developers- the kind that mixes a goofy breed of humor with funny battles; and it proves the philosophy of one game developer: "Only the paranoid survive."
So, in conclusion, Nintendo is my vote.

PSP

Pros:
Good graphics
Big screen

Cons:
TERRIBLE battery life
The analog "nub" stinks
Absolute lack of quality games (and that's why you buy a system right?)
It is made by sony so you know it won't be durable
Load times

DS

Pros:
Better battery life
Two screens (imagine the possibilities)
A touch screen
Microphone
It's NINTENDO!
Incredibly durable
It's made for RPGs (Touch screen for menu's and things like that. Just touch the bottom screen to change weapons or pull up a map. Here are all announced RPG's: Baten Kaitos DS, Dynasty Warriors DS (that's an rpg right?) Egg Monster Heroes, Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (good chance that it will be online), Final Fantasy III Note: thats the FF3 that never made it to america, Legend of Zelda: Four Swords(possibly online), Mega Man Battle Network (THIS HAS TO BE ONLINE!), Monster Rancher, Pokemon Diamond, Pokemon Pearl, Shin Megamitensei DS (YOU HEARD ME!), Secret of Mana, Slime Morimori Dragon Quest, and last but DEFINITELY not least, ........................................................................ .................................... .................................................

Xenosaga DS! Quite a list there huh?)

Cons:
Worse graphics
No analog stick Note: The DS touch screen can emulate an analog stick. It didn't work so well in Super Mario 64 DS but it didn't work because of some fixable errors. Developers will be able to do it better once they get used to it.

So, you decide! *wink* *wink*

Well, since the DS and psp are out in japan right now,I'll just say one thing.Sony was focusing on Japan first, yet didn't go all out until the DS was put on the shelves a week before the psp.Which shows that sony is afraid of the DS and nintendo's experience.Even in a survey, the psp was thought of as nothing like a handheld. So,I have no doubt the DS shall smote thy Psp in a glorious ball of white flames with the Gba cartirdge compatibilty/linking functions.

I like the PSP more... and it has a good battery life, just go here to find ou the battery life exactly. http://psp.ign.com/articles/574/574557p1.html
And the psp will be able to hook up to your computer and PS2, so you can download stuff, like new vehicles for racing or somethin. And yes, the PSP has wireless mutiplayer, and personally, i think i will have better games too. You can also play movies and music on it, so... I like the PSP, and the PSP will only cost between $150-$200.

You call 3 hours, 32 minutes good battery life? And it would be even less if they didn't do this,
Quote:
this test, we loaded and ran a race of Ridge Racers on a PSP on AC power, then switched to battery power for the game's engine-run "Replay" mode. This mode takes some of the hardware processing off of the system
. So that means that they weren't pushing it as hard as they could. Even at the bottom of the page, it says"UMD: Low use" If that was high use it would be way below 2 1/2 hours. It was 5 hours, 9 minutes when they did a lot of UMD loading on a game that had crummy graphics and no memory stick use. But on a game that had good graphics and accesed the disc a lot can you imagine how low it would be? Example: GTA. They recently announced a GTA for PSP. Now, if it is a full fledged GTA game, I wouldn't be surprised if the battery life lasted a bit over an hour. Why you ask? GTA acesses the disc ALL the time. Want proof? Go pop the game in your PS2 and listen to your PS2. You can hear accessing the disc all the time. Battery life is a VERY big issue with the PSP.

I can get those features from a cheap 10 dollar electronic organiser....Dude the things coming out in April they could give it a upgrade plus why would i want such a big battery, i only use my hand held gaming device (which is currently a GBA) it on the road or when i'm really bored, thats what the council is for.
