IT is only 189 in Japan, it will be cheaper in the US. I think. That report I Think is false.

I made a thread a long time ago for the PSP though,

PSM predicted $150 launch price, they were off. *goes to japan to buy one*

Question: Is there any difference for a psp in japan then there is in america?

I will go to Japan to get one!!!

Flight: $3000
PSP: $185
Food: $50
Hotel: $200

Okay, guess I will buy one in America.

I'd rather get a DS. Heck, a GC, PS2, AND Xbox are all cheaper. At least the DS has a touch screen and is backwards-compatable.

Again, when's the PSP coming out exactly o_O

Bah, I was going to buy a psp, but seeing the price tag on it, and the games, I'm not so sure... Heck, I'd much rather buy a PS2 game for that price.

According to the article its comming out on March 24, I'll defintly won't buy one yet. Lets see how the games are and then I'll decide. $300 (CDN) is a nice big dent in the cash flow. Tho you have to admit it looks amazing compared to the DS...

But that not the point of the DS. If Nintendo wanted to, they could have made a handheld just like the PSP... but they didn't. Nintendo never likes to be like the competition. Ever! The DS offers a different experience. Well, it CAN offer a new experience. The DS can offer new experiences, and old style ones. The same can't be said for the PSP.

Yeah the DS offers gameplay...the PSP offers gameplay and other stuff. I just wanted a console to play games on so I chose the DS :) I have an mp3 player already and the other stuff doesnt interest me. Plus all the good games are on DS (Well eventually)

Rbpnmn guy, I appreciate your enthusiasm and all. But I gots some bad news. If people get the PSP for one game like the PS2, it's GTA :(

Yeah, I know. But if they have to change the gameplay because of the battery life, then it could bomb. We will just have to wait and see.

*laughs at the fact that very few people buy the PS2 for for GTA since it comes on PC and XBox as well*

Um... what? The PSP may only sell on GTA, but the PS2 is far from doing so. =D

I don't see what the use of defending a console to the bitter end does to you. Nintendo pwns this Sony pwns that, bah completely stupid.

There's no point saying that Sony failed in this and that Nintendo could've done so and so. They've each got their own strategies and views on what will sell. They're both extremely well established console developers, and they both have a different view of what will do well. Granted, Sony have little experience in the field of handheld gaming, but they have been making so many other little electronics that they should have a shrewd idea of what will work.

Nintendo's idea of having a touch screen was pure genius and is one of their major selling points, along with the Dual Screen shermozzle. Backwards compatabilty is a bonus.

They're both just two systems competing for superiority. Just like the VHS vs BETA battles, and the Microsoft Word vs Corel WordPerfect battles, the DS vs PSP battle will decide what becomes a major selling point on handheld consoles.

Touch Screen works? Get ready for a new generation of touch-screen handheld gaming. PSP's basic concept works? Get ready for another few years of the same handheld design.

Oh and, for all of you saying that Sony/Nintendo could have done this and that, the point is they didn't. If the DS design is less favourable than the PSP's on a worldwide market, guess who will win? And visa versa. Nintendo's brave plunge into the unknown could make or break them. As could Sony's idea of sticking to the basics.

Okay well I'm done. That's my unbiased opinion on the matter
PSP PWNS DS!!!

Thankyou :)

DS PWNS PSP!!!

There. I fixed it for you! Honestly, the PSP does kind of interest me. KIND OF! But every time I get interested, I realise that the price of games and the system is just too much for me. And then I see the battery life and I wonder why I ever considered getting one in the first place.

EDIT! DUN DUN DUN! POST NUMBER 666!!!
