I'm surprised they haven't gone after Oscar the Grouch for living in unsuitable conditions.

There was one instance that I "forgave" Cookie Monster for not eating cookies (a segment that was first shown in the late 80s-early 90s with him in a Run DMC-like costume and rap about healthy foods)... it did say in gist that "I love cookies, but I do like healthy foods as well." I think that would have been a better message than what they are trying to convey with it being a "sometimes food".

Having him totally convert for being the cookie love to "meh" to cookies is just so wrong.... they've ruined a classic childhood icon :(

Look on the bright side. Any merchendise that has him holding a cookie will go for millions after they replace them with toys of him holding a carrot or a cabbage.

:P They did a joke on this on SNL.

Also, they are renaming Cookie Monster to Pilates Monster.

:P

:D I have loads of Cookie Monster toys at my old house in my toy box. In every single one he has a cookie.
When does this change of Cookie Monster starts?

Jebus! A Cookie is a Sometimes Food! Pfft, that is hilarious. :roflol: Pinch me, someone...

But really, this is so stupid! Off my babyhood, people! Cookie Monster rocked, but gawd! I love the 'C is for Cookie' song, how could they replace it! Ebil...

C is for carrot, 'cause they're so good for me... :P

Seriously though... that's just...
...it's puppets! On Sesame Street! And... gah!
(Day-long bus trips make me incoherent)

*ahem* Mi-mi-mi-mi...right...

Three cheers for me, Captain Vegetable! Crunch! Crunch! Cruuuuuuuuuuuuuunch!

Right, now that that old Superman-cosplaying rabbit, Captain Vegetable from Seasame Street is out of my head...

This is insane. Maybe I'm in the minority that actually is the correct weight for my height, but isn't this taking the pool way off the deep end?!

...
Now I know why I hated what they did to Sesame Street. I'm starting to fear what will happen 5 years from now to that show...

*rubs temple*

If I ever get a job as an animator and am hired by Henson, you can bet I'll put a mallet over Brian's head for this insanity.
Don't mind me, DangerMouse taught me violence :P

ok... so I might be a tad over weight... but I do not blame the cookie monster for it! If anything, I blame Bert... he scared me as a child!

Anyway, I could probably stand to lose some weight, but as I have discovered before, if I got below 175 ish, life is miserable. I'd rather be on the slightly heavy side than be the perfect weight and suffer with the headaches, dizzyness, shortness of breath etc. Its jsut not worth it to me!

*gets off soap box and grabs a cookie*

Anyway, back on topic. They have gotta be kidding. Are kids going to eat plates just because the cookie monster does?!

Me too. It's odd how it affects you later in life too. While my friends treat themselves to ice cream after doing well on an exam, I go buy myself a stack of new fiction. It's quite lovely actually. :)

I just think everything these days is too PC. People are too afraid to send anything that could even be percieved as a slightly "bad" or "offensive" message. It's positively ridiculous. I even read an article the other day about how teachers can't use red ink anymore because it's "too stressful" for kids.

If I were them I'd've kept the song and gone for a scare tactic:

"Children who eat cookies become fat, blue, furry monsters and THEN THEY DIE."

They'd all be munching carrot sticks in no time.

Fidds should be a day-care supervisor. After that we'd have a bunch of healthy kids! :P

Our class is keeping a food journal now. It's actually kind of interesting. Currently I'm under the requirements of daily food on everything. XD
