Maybe they got shut down by Neopets because of all the links... I'm sure they'll go after neocolors and neoitems first if they decide to do anything about it.

I very much doubt neopets has the power to shut down anything. There was a famous court case where it was ruled that posting links to legal online content is never punishable through the courts. Something along those lines anyway. If you have a site online then prepare to be linked to.

Aside from which many staff members have posted there in the past and no doubt still lurk there. Any motion to do that kind of thing has to be put forward before action is taken, but like I say that part of neopets t&c along with many of the other new additions is completely unenforceable by law.

Usually when you get domain.com/net/.co.uk etc cannot be found it means that either the server in on the blink or the DNS is on the blink. Seeing as Sams other sites are down then the former seems likely. Hopefully by Monday it'll all be back up, the withdrawal is terrible when it's down too long :o

It's kinda funny that the second any Neo fansite goes down a lot of people's first reaction is 'TNT must've shut it down!' Not that the fanbase feels persecuted or anything ;) It'll be back, but I doubt anything'll happen till Monday - darn 5-day working weeks! Why do people who work in offices get away without working weekends?

Ohmygosh, it's because we used bad words! Anonymoususername has struck - argh! :o

And yes no computer things ever get fixed over the weekend, I'm so glad I'm not on the uni network anymore where it was written into the IT department contracts that they were not allowed to physcially enter the building at the weekend to reset the servers if needed. Brilliant when the network goes down first weekend of exams, heh. *mumbles about lazy IT people* *realises this is her chosen career path...* Ahem.

Unless they're computer things that don't require you to go through a company ;) It's actually more likely Sam'll have the time to fix something on a weekend- assuming he's noticed, that is. And if it's a server problem, emailing him's not going to help.

Well, what was your username? As for the "bad words" thing, I dislike how much of a stigma society places upon certain combinations of letters. It's not as if reading them will corrupt your innocent, pure mind.

If it's a legal thing, Sam would have got an email or something. Last time he got a legal mail he let me know, and I certainly haven't heard anything this time, either from TNT themselves (you know, it's surprising the number of people that think I own the site) or from him. Besides, apart from the people posting on NC from TNT, they used the site to release a bunch of old colours in the news before. Remember? It isn't a legal thing, I don't think, or illuminated.co.uk would still be up.

Please lets not turn this thread into an argument about the content on another site. Everyone should just... play nice and try to get along. If theres problems with the content on a site, it should not be taken up in public in what could be viewed as slander, but it should be taken up in private with the owners of said site, or those who run it.

Anywho.

Trick... Neopets does have the power to shut sites down. Trust me. It's happened before.

They have to go via whoever hosts the site, though, don't they? In Sam's case with a dedicated server, I don't think he necessarily has a proper hosting company. I think they might even have to ask Sam to be able to shut down the site- unless he is still using uk2? And Neopets don't have the power to shut down non-neopets sites owned by the same person, which are also down at the moment.

I know. I personally don't believe neocolours was shut down by Neo, considering the fact that his other sites are down. I was just saying that yes, they can infact shut down sites.
It's happened. And it sucks when it happens.

I think it's just an isp or server problem. Seems that some servers have been glitchy lately.

Ah my bad =) Though I was kinda meaning that they don't have the power to shut them down without warning, ie over the owners head etc without making a formal complaint first. But I didn't know they could shut them down at all, meh I really didn't think they'd stoop to shut down a fan site. I'll add that to my reasons of why I don't like neo as much as I used to :/

Anyhoo as had been said it's most likely it's just a server problem which was all I was really trying to point out (as well as remembering something from the other thread about linking...or was that on nc? *is confused..again, hee*) Here's hoping it's all back up soon! =D

Yeah, last time there was trouble they didn't just go in and shut the site down, they sent Sam the purple comic sans-serif email. :)

I'm going into withdrawal as well... how am I supposed to procrastinate my dissertation now?

Hn, looks like my old account was deleted. Bother. So is this where everyone went? I'm bored without NC.
