I loved it! My friend Zee (That's her nickname, not her real name) introduced the series to me...

It kind of confused me at first though. I thought that it was on this earth, and not a coinciding one. I don't even know if that's the right word, but yeah...

I dunno what I'd want my Daemon to be... and wait. They're making a movie? Oh my gosh, I have to go tell Zee...

Well, I'm in the process of reading "The Amber Spyglass" now. But THEY CUT GOD!!! GOD!!! MOVIE!!! CUT!! Well, they had better keep Baruch and Balthamos. I wonder what Dr. Malone will look like though. But just to re-enforce a point, GOD!! CUT! MOVIE!!! AARGH!!! But I just hope they keep the Alethiometer, the Subtle Knife and Amber Spyglass true to the designs on the front cover of the books.

Ahhhh... His Dark Material, such fond memories, apart from the book being as amazing as it is, it was the first proper books that i read "willingly" and enjoyed, must read it again.

I bought the books the last thime I went book shopping.

Dust is... well, it's a lot of things. The series gets a lot deeper and interesing in The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass, but my favourite is still The Golden Compass.

Movie? I'll probably go see it, unless it's horribly butchered, which I desperately don't want to happen.

Philip Pullman is an awesome writer! I am a big fan of his works. 'His Dark Materials' is one of my all-time favourite series. They're really amazing books. :)

I loved the first two books. But I was disappointed by the the third volume. I didn't feel that it followed through with the full momentum of the first two parts of the story.

I would be interested in seeing the film--probably not in the theater, though.

Well, they're finally starting to release movie photos too!

Today they posted the first ever picture of Lyra. Although she isn't as I pictured (mainly because she is very clean and her hair is curly) I look forward to seeing her act. I'm sure she'll be great. I fear that the MOVIE will not live up to my minimal expectations (I know it won't be as good as the book, since movies rarely are). Here is the link to the Lyra photo (along with Nicole Kidman as Mrs. Coulter. I suspect that this scene is the dinner where the Master of Jordan College passes custody of Lyra to Mrs. Coulter).

Wow. I didn't know they were making a movie. Have to say I'm incredibly nervous about how this is going to turn out... Nicole Kidman is a good choice for Mrs. Coulter, though, I think. Not so sure about Lyra. *crosses fingers*

Maybe in function, but the images will change. It's some editor vs. the original author. It's just how things work.

Oh God! HDM was my first love in fantasy series, really. I was much younger when I read it, but I still remember it as sort of my benchmark of fantasy for a very long time. I really thought it was compelling and well-written, and I liked how it actually bordered on science fiction in that it explained almost everything with semi-logical explanations that didn't require too much suspension of disbelief.

I actually wanted to read the series again, but alas I have no time...

HDM is by far the greatest series I have ever read. Being a Texan myself, I was really disappointed to see Lee Scoresby die.

It's a love/hate reationship with books turned into movies, this one I'm realy hessitant about becuase the series was so intricate and involved. It also has a special place in my heart as the first non-animorphs series I started to read in second grade. I'd hate to see it on the big screen, with overlyflashy effects, and plot-holes you could drive a semi-through.

Iorek*, though, I've high hopes for the Polar bears, any word on who is doing the special effects?

Oh, who took the Daemon quiz on the movie site? I scored a Snow Leopard.

*pardon if it's misspelled, it's been a while sence I've read them.
