i would actually not recommend that since it'll be a ridiculous joke after a while, but it'll suck to put up with it while it's not.

you should just stick with your real friends. going to a new school, you can reinvent yourself, and what it means to be yourself. make more friends and make it cool to hang out with the oter sex.

It works. Trust me. If you don't react, and treat it as a joke, they'll get bored.

There's nothing wrong with that whatsoever! I played with guys all the time when I was younger.

Psh. You're only like, eleven. I doubt anybody at your school even knows what a gay person is, they just use it as an insult because that's the latest American trend. *eyeroll*

Laugh it up when 5 years from now, when all those snotty losers are trying to get together with your girl friends, but your girl friends won't give them the time of day because they were rude to you. :D

Dawn, you would be amazed at what 11 year olds know. Ask any obsessive manga/anime fangirl (which my 13 year old daughter is) about homosexuality.

I have to share a story with you all. My husband, who is extremely out of touch with pre-teen/teen stuff, was talking with my daughter about the show "The Amazing Race." He mentioned that the two guys who were a bit "flamboyant" had been kicked out of the race. My daughter smiles and says "Dad, you mean the two gay guys?" He blushed and was at a total loss for words. He did not realize that his daughter knew anything about "gays." Obviously, he doesn't look inside any of her manga books.

Oh, and Pokemon Kid, stick to your guns. Nothing wrong with being friends with girls. When I was your age, I found it much easier to be friends with boys than friends with girls. Girls were so darned catty and snotty and into goofy stuff like makeup and giggling. Boys didn't have any of that baggage. To this day, I still find it easier to be friends with a man than with a woman. And, I am an old lady. :P

I have a history of being able to actually talk to girls. It went into a slump for a couple years in which I really didn't talk to anyone. Guys, on the other hand... most of them are hard to talk to. I talk to senior citizen guys really good, but the younger they get, the more likely I am to regret starting a conversation. My theory is that I was born a few generations too late and there's nothing I can do about it.

Lionheart, I have often felt the same way. I too can talk with senior citizens much easier than people my own age. I just love the stories that they have to share. So much wisdom packed inside some of those old, grey heads. My brother couldn't stand it when my dad and grandmother would repeat the same stories over and over. I, on the other hand, loved those stories. And, oh, do I miss them. They got me to see life through the eyes of my dad and grandmother. I just wish that I had been given the sense to taperecord them or to write those stories down.

I had a friend that used to tell me all about a town and the way it was so many years ago. My mother and I would drive him to church and to the laundromat. There was even one time I took the happy old man on my scooter. :)

I also won't forget the hours we spent playing checkers while his clothes washed and dried. He was sharp-minded. Guys in my age group... yeah right.

Girls are fun. You can say stuff to them and they won't care. :P But call one "fat", and you are in for a load of pain.

Not if you're living in a homophobic community that beats homosexuals up. And I'd like to say I'm exaggerating, but unfortunately, I'm not.

Lillie, I have to agree. And I live in such a "free" and tolerant nation. Gah! Horsefeathers on the tolerance and free part. I wouldn't recommend saying that to anyone. It may be cute joke, but some people just don't get it and never will. And will use it as an excuse to beat the crud out of someone who is different than them.

What a world we live in. *sigh*
