You all live like Kath and Kim.

And you Aussies think you have it bad! Try coming from Scotland. I swear, everytime you tell an American you're from Scotland they say either:

"In the north of England?"
"Do you chase haggis about?"
"Where's your kilt/skirt?"
"Say hi to Shuggie for me"
"Do you toss cabers?"

And they don't understand us! I went to Florida for 2 weeks in 2002 and for almost the whole time I had to speak in an American accent!

Ahaha, that's great. Can you give me a recording of your faux-accent? :D

Besides, everyones knows haggis is a little creature with chubby legs and a face that looks like it ran into a wall, repeatedly.

I was asked a few times by prospective US students wanting to come to Scotland to study whether or not we had tv or internet and a couple of occasions - whether we had electricity! I was fine in the US except for people saying "do you know my cousin blah or my auntie blah" hehe.

As for Australia I don't have many stereotypes of the place as my aunt spent ages there when I was younger and sent me letters about it a couple of times a week. I guess the Neighbours thing is quite hard to shrug off - that everyone knows their neighbours and you're all a bit nuts :D Oh and you have christmas barbeques, heehee xD

One of the nicer stereotypes is that you're all really friendly and talk to anyone and everyone - that's certainly held true with the Australians I've met :)

Brilliant. :D

Oh my. You could almost sound American... but kind of like an American that's not from the north-eastern United States attempting to sound like you are. So I suppose it's a semi-good fake accent. But creepy though.

I'd prefer your natural accent. (and I'll now require at least three hours worth of recordings of you speaking... please..)
I'd probably have no trouble understanding that. I tend to stalk random Scots enough that I've grown quite skilled at understanding the accents.

Never even heard of the last two.

Really? Wow, if I remember my slang correctly "chunder" is a reference to vomit and "tucker" is a reference to food. I have to admit I don't think I've ever heard anyone actually use them though.

I'll try to use them in a sentence, based on my own knowledge of their uses...I could be wrong, but let's see...

"Your tucker's such fair dinkum garbage, I want to chunder just lookin' at it."

No, it's going to haunt the rest of your natural life, and the one after that.

Ya know... I've never heard of any Australian stereotype of comment before. Hm... no.. I really don't think I have heard any.

Oh you don't have it that bad, when Charlotte Church went to see Dubya, he asked her what state Wales was in. Gotta say though, do like the idea of frying mars bars.

i don't know if this is a stereotype but we assume that australians are laid back and friendly.

And when my family vacationed in Melbourne and rented a car, it started smoking a little, we were trying to find button to release the hood so my dad could take a look. A guy parked near us helped up but alsa he also gave up after a while. found it in the glove compartment..bah.

You want the BIGGEST stereotype?
Getting corrected for spelling "Australia" because you're an Aussie, and having some dumb American (no offense!) say it's spelt "AUSTRAILIA"!

Last I checked, even American textbooks spelt it as "Australia" >>;

You guys are pretty much screwed as far as representation goes. You've got Steve Irwin and that shark from Finding Nemo. My condolences. :(
