Did anyone else laugh hysterically when Sephiroth cast Supernova? I mean, he shatters Pluto, puts a hole through Jupiter, and swells the sun to swallow the Planet, all to inflict relatively minor damage and possible status ailments on your party. And then he does it AGAIN.

Speaking of Nanaki, how exactly did he get those children in the final scene?

My theory is that Nanaki found a special someone, bought a Barry White album, and went from there XD

I blame and Knights of the Round for starting the trend for spells/summons with unecessarily long animations, with the "crowning achievement" being the "ultimate" GF (summon) in FFVIII, Eden. "Look it's a giant jellyfish thingie.. with a cape!"

How about Leviathan? It comes out of an abyss, creates a pillar of ice, in which spews forth a massive tsunami 10 times the size of the caster, all to inflict around 800-2400 hp of damage. And that's when you boost it.

How about Diablos? So many body posing animation scenes, followed by a massive black sphere that envelops the enemy, doing 100-ish damage to all non-dark type monsters.Fwap it ona Tonberry though, heee...*Points to 3500+ damage*

Gah. I'm so glad boosting was a FFVIII only thing ^^ It's a good thing the damage inflicted to animation ratio was already much, much inproved by FFX. One twich/flash from Anima's eye = 9999 damage. Ah, that's better.

I'm very interested to see how FFXII will treat summons. Keep the option to skip the long summon animations, and hopefully they won't get too caught up focusing on flashy entrances.

The tradition here is that you can call on a sampler pack of mythological beings, who deliver the most devastating attacks in the game. These attacks generally involve your opponents standing there while some moldy god makes a Vegas entrance, poses for a while, then eventually causes a gate to open up to Hell or the moon to fall from the sky or the sea to wash over the bad guys in a massive deluge. This usually reduces their hit points by 50% or so, as a good moon-plummeting should. It also takes approximately a half-hour to finish, so in the installments where you can't skip it, the best strategy is to avoid using your summons if you possibly can. This explains why in Japanese cartoons the good guys always avoid using their ultimate attack until they're almost defeated. They're thinking "Christ, I was hoping that just this once I wouldn't have to go through the whole boring Lion-Phoenix-Titan-Zero transformation sequence. I got places to be!"

The only thing that FFVII doesn't match up with today's FF Games is the graphics, of course.. other than that it's one of the best storyline game's i've every played, one of my favorites... beat's all the RPG's i've played. Including Xenogears, Chrono Cross, All Sqauresoft RPG Games, ect.. each one just doesn't compare with catching my attention like this game. But I think it could make a comeback with the E3 Tech Demo they made for PS3, to match today's graphics and the storyplay involved with it, it'd be a great hit. Of course they can tell they've hit a nerve with this game, with all the feedback the user's gave them, I mean they're making DVD with the sequal instead of a game like FFX-2, and plus other projects, like FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus, from the looks of it like it's about Vincent's life or something. anyway them's my thoughts on the game, one of the best. :)

Think for yourself.

So, the never-ending debate: Is Sephiroth alive, a clone, or Jenova? Personally, I think he's alive (since when have long falls ever killed fictional characters?) but I hope he's a clone, what with all that Cetra Nationalist stuff that got him started on the road to evil in the first place.

Yeah, and I was pre-spoiled on Aeris's death, but it didn't really ruin it. Made me more susceptible, if anything. I was expecting it any moment in the Temple of the Ancients, but I should have realized that Indiana Jones with more annoying music didn't precisely set the right mood. By the way, the Cry of the Planet music is brilliant. And Aeris's theme playing while you fight Jenova was the most inspiring boss battle music ever. Call me a sap if you will.

But most of all, the ending, with Aeris saving the world from beyond the grave. Lawks.
