Well, the bird and the fish are both facing left, so, umm, yeah.

Good point ... so if ancient Egyptian is to give us a clue ... it is telling us to read left to right. :)

Oh well. Worth a shot. :)

Edit: Finally found Cranberry's post: So her faerie symbol does appear (6 times) on her tablet). :)

Cranberry wrote:
Nah, like I said, my faerie statue symbol (and the "understood" scroll symbol) is not on my tablet at all.

..oh, wait, maybe it is. Six times, actually. Embarassed I had it confused with the other similar-looking one. Yep, Ahn is on my faerie statue and on my tablet six times.

Ok went to the "Help' page and searched for Hieroglyph, tablet, and translate. It was worth a shot. Stop laughing!

I'm almost certain that Egyptian read top to bottom for things that were very important/ceremonial (think a ruler's name on an obelisk) but horizontally for most things. However, I might be thinking of Japanese (or they might both be that way).

P.S.: Diane Duane is awesome ;)

Actually, I've read that in a lot of cases, the Egyptians wrote in whichever order looked nicer. :) That was usually for short things, though, like names.

I'm not surprised that the number and length of series is random, but I was curious to see whether I had the longest. Apparently I don't. It was frustrating enough having 15, I'd hate to have 18!

I have made it back into the temple. Went to my faerie.

The first I wanted to try was saying each of the symbols on my tablet ... but starting the symbol that was below my faerie statue (and going left to right ... and then just wrapping around)

Silly, of course, but worth a shot.

It didn't work.

Hmm.... all this talk of the rosetta stone... sounds to me like that is what we need! A professor of ancient languages with a rosetta stone!.... now what would one be called in neopia?

*begins to search*

(It's something to do! :P :P )

All this speculation is a good way to pass the time, however I am almost 100% positive that until the next part of the plot is released we aren't going to be able to progress any further.

So lets take a break and calm our nerves; we deserve some rest.

That may be true and they are waiting for all time zones to have a chance to get the 12th piece. We could actually not unlock anything in the temple to start with but the smart ones mapped it ;)

No harm in comparing parchments to tablets.

I have a question. I just went to the library and read my first scroll that my pet understood. So in 12 hours if I go visit the statue, will her symbol change so I'll know which scroll to read next?

I think this is a very good question. Anybody know the answer? If not, I hopw you'll post it when you find out.

If you want wild speculation, I can be here all night throwing off one crazy theory after another. I doubt anyone else, but me, would want that.
