Oh my God, EC, are we sisters? Because you are describing my mother--it has to be the same woman. There couldn't possibly be two people in the world that would do that to their child. Oh, I remember a time when I don't even think I had 1 inch bangs. My mom kept trying to even them out. And, at the time, I had this horrible cowlick. So, the 1/2 inch of fringe on the one side of my head stuck completely up, while the 2 inches of bangs on the other side of my head laid flat. I was 13 years old and so self conscious of my glasses already. And now I was a total freak of nature, thanks to my mom.
I cried and cried and cried. And, my dad stepped in and never let her cut my hair again. Some people are just not meant to hold scissors in their hands.
I can top that.
My mum tried to cut my hair once.
After she'd had 3 glasses of champagne.
Not the best idea.
My Lord, where do mothers get the idea that they can cut hair? I wouldn't try to fix my own car, so why would I attempt to take a scissors to hair? When I cannot even cut paper in a straight line?

My mum is OK at cutting my hair. Well, trimming it when I don't want to pay.
My friend Kim's mum IS a hairdresser, but she won't let her mum cut her hair...bonkers!

I don't think my mom scheduled us appointments yet, but I'll try talking to my hair stylist when we get their and see if she can talk to my mom about it. Sometimes my mom will agree if she has a second opinion on it.

Yeah. O.o I have what I call an 'emo kid part,' which basically means my hair is almost constantly in my face (like so: http://myspace-790.vo.llnwd.net/00246/0 ... 0790_m.jpg), and I haven't had any more problems than when my hair was usually out of my face.
And Morningstar, hair dye is fun (I've been dying mine since I was in 6th grade or maybe 7th), but if you end up letting your daughter do that she should keep in mind that black hair dye is really hard to get out of your hair...

If your hair is really oily, it will cause some breakouts. I started breaking out a lot more when I got my hair cut shorter and it was in my face more. But if you take good care of it, it should be fine.

i'd rather have acne on my forehead than a crazy jacked-up haircut. everybody gets acne, especially at a certain age, and people forget about it. but screwy hairstyles can haunt you for life.

There's always coverstick, too. XD It's kind of hard to disguise a bad hairstyle.

Sock, I love your hair! I wear my hair with a side part, so it is pretty much in my face all of the time as well.

I have a really long fringe so it's constantly in my face. I cleanse, tone and moisturise so I have no problems with my skin.
My mom is really fussy with what I do with my hair. She likes me to look the way that she'd like to look, which is nice but it's not me. So once we had a huge arguement about what colour my hair was going. We fell out so I went to the hairdressers alone and had the one colour she'd hate the most; red. Now I loved it and it suited me but she hated it. Heh. She was so fed up of it after a few months, she actually paid for me to get it done again. And this time, we compromised.
